Depends what examining board your sons' school is using.
Easy to find once you know that. Or PE teacher will have a printed copy that can be photocopied.
Course work is usually sent off after the Easter hols, although teachers may say earlier to get it all in, in time for them to use the Easter hols to grade.
here is a link to a site I found, although it seems to be for AS and A2 level it seems quite achievable, skiing and snowboarding is on page 46 so you have to scroll down a long way! If this is what they require for A level, then GCSE should be a doddle!
I am a PE teacher so I'll ignore the jokes about Inset Days!
It all depends on what examination board your son is following for his GCSE course. This can be checked by your son through his PE teacher. The PE teacher should then be able to get hold of the criteria for you if they allow it as a sport.
The criteria would need to be give to the instructor so they can grade your son.

You will definately need to get a video of your son on his board. The video would need to show all of the things that your son can do on the board (ie the things on the criteria). The video might then be requested by an external examiner. Highly unlikely but you never know and would put the PE teacher in a difficult situation!
Grades have to be submitted to examination boards after the Easter hols but PE teachers would be thinking very soon of sorting the grades for the pupils.
I would suggest that you son speaks to his PE teacher and find out if its worth going through all this. If he has 4 other sports that are better grade wise then these would go forward.

If they don't have a snowboarding skill area, then I'm sure he would be able to achieve the skiing syllabus.
Hope this helps. But you need to check with PE teacher for the exact syllabus he is following as there's 2 and the 2009 exam maybe slightly different.
