Hi all,

not good news, my daughter attends the American college of Sofia and today the school closed due to no gas until further notice, Sofia relies on town gas and many people have in alternate way to heat and cook. Borovets and Bansko will also have problems, i advise you check before leaving. The only good news is that there is no town gas in Pamporovo and 90% of development runs on alternate fuel. Many Hospitals in sofia and Plovdiv are suffering as it is minus 10 and they have no heat, patients are suffering please say a prayer that lives are not lost, i have just heard the most schools in Plovdiv and Sofia are closed, i am so concerned about. The news just stated that electric in Bulgaria will be switched of for a few hours daily due to the problem of no gas it is draining the electric resources.

Sorry don't know how to hypalink the above but it basically says that talks were held last night and that although no outcome has been published, they expect it to be sorted by the end of the week. If nothing has been sorted by the end of the week then they can see substantial EU intervention as other countries are suffering as a concequence of the feud between Russia and the Ukraine.
