Gas supply problems

Hi All, the media is currently full of horror stories regarding gas shortages and even a complete failure of gas supplies in Bulgaria. As Borovets gets it's heat from gas I was hoping someone already there could confirm if the resort hotels have heat. I am due to fly out on Saturday and will be staying at the Bor / Edelweiss. Will I will be sleeping in a freezer

I saw last night on the BBC website something about Borovets being affected but Bankso should be OK I think...here is the link:

This looks as though it is serious as Bulgaria has only a few days left of reserve gas.
Do the hotels in Borovets cook and heat their water with gas also.
I go there on the 17th Jan so by then it could either be a good holiday if it's sorted out or a total miserable one.

Glad someone has asked about this as Ive just heard about it. Fly out to pamps on sat are we likely to freeze??

Just been on the phone to Thomson ski, they are not committing themselves one way or the other at the mo. Their position is that they are going to leave it to the last possible moment to decide and then call people and offer alternatives if needed. As Zedee pointed out if the gas goes off we have no heat, no hot water and probably no hot food. I have done plenty of backpacking and don't ming roughing it but.......

Anybody know any friendly Ukranina gas workers who may be able to divert a little gas for us?

hi guys, i go out on the 17th to boro and have just spoke to thomas cook, they said that they have not been made aware of any problems in the resort at the moment so have no plans to offer any alternatives at the moment

heres to hopeing they can sort someting out or i will just pack my camping stove!!!!

Bansko has no gas supply laid on so not affected, they heat with Electric generated by diesl and wood. There are shed loads of unused hotel and appartment beds in Bansko so should you need to change........

As far as I know in Pamps many establishments use electric or burn wood and oil for heat.
