Bulgaria Ski discussion board

I really wish you whinging lot would go somewhere else. I am fed up with hearing its run down, its dirty, its a rip off etc etc. I have been to Pamps several times and tried Bansko this year. We have had a great time on each occasion, no we havn't been ripped off but then we went and enjoyed the charm of the local area rather than staying where the tourists go. Didn't see any fights either!
It is still cheap compared with a lot of other places and one of our group has skied Canada, France, Italy etc and still makes sure he can fit a week in Bulgaria in every year. I will be glad when you do all go somewhere else it leaves more room for the people who love it.

Could say the same about London

I have been to Blackpool to ride Pepsi Max and see the lights but wouldn't spend long in the town. Others love it and go every year - their choice.

I am happy to spend some vacations in England but choose places that suit us as a family - our choice.

Never fancied the Spanish Islands but if I tried them, I would appreciate advice on how to get the best from the area.

Personally, didn't like Barbados much and felt threatened there but I don't go on a forum and keep telling people NOT to go. Others go, love it AND buy out there - their choice.

All us 'BG lovers' try to do is advise and let people try it and decide for themselves. We live in a country where our choice is vast - use it.

I have an apartment in Bulgaria so don't really want people running the place down, BUT I thought this was a forum.
This is rooters first post, and the worst he said is that the standard of equipment is awful, he wasn't abusive or rude to anyone, which some Bulgaria lovers have been when slating someone who has the "cheek" to give their opinion if it hasn't been a good one.

I was of the understanding that everone is entitled to give their view, GOOD OR BAD!

Rooter, maybe if you try the villages surrounding the ski resorts you would find things different. The village that I will live in is about 10km from Pamporovo so I have the best of both worlds.

I can go to Pamps to enjoy the skiing and the apres ski or, if it is just a bit of good old fashioned snow sports fun and skidooing over a wide area, I can go to the snowboard park just outside the village for much less than I pay in Pamps and without the crowds. Also, in the village the prices for food and drink are much cheaper than in Pamps.

But if your choice is to be right in the centre of a ski resort etc the more you have to pay. I am sure that there are equally good and bad reports on ski equipment everywhere you go. It is a matter of personal preference and the same all over the world.

rooter was talking about borovets and skimad is talking about pamps and bankso... I have only been to borovets and I agree the ski equipment was awful there...(samakov) the boots were really old still wet and smelt bad also didnt fit, gave me a size 11 instead of 9 changed them a few times but they werent that interested in the ski depot skis were rusty with bindings that didnt work ..they didnt come off resulting in injury..and I also got verrucas on my foot from the crappy boots.. bought my own boots now but if I had known how bad it was i would have saved the hire money and bought them before I went...ah well hindsight is a marvellous thing. But rooter is right to warn ppl about this so give him/her a break as if I had known before I would have taken my own gear and had a better time and possibly not ended up sitting in the hotel room injured..
