HELP Bansko or Borovets?

Hi

We have not been to Bulgaria before but hear it is up and coming so we have booked our flights for Dec 09 (a way off I know) and after initially going for Bansko a few reviews are putting me off.

Which one would you recommend? We are both intermediate/advanced so would Borovets be better?

We also want good nightlife and local amenities as we will be self catering.

Any advice much appreciated!

I'm sure others will back me up on this, December 9th is very early in the season, many places won't officially open their lifts system until nearer Christmas (may even only open weekends, so early in Dec). Snow may also be an issue, I'd do some research on historical snowfall if I were you, think you will be very lucky if you get much skiing in at that time.

I remember someone saying that the terrain in Bankso is more rugged than Borovets, and therefore it needs more snow to be skiable.
Can anyone verify this ?
If its right I would pick Borovets, as its early season .
I have skied at New Year a few years in Borovets and always been able to ski.
If its not right then it doesn't matter !

I have just booked for Boro, main reason is that the people i spoke to who have been to both say the lift waits in bansko can sometime be really long upto 1.5 hrs dont fancy that, alot of the forum quotes also say the same

We go to boro this sat will post a review when we get back

based on your statement that bulgaria is up and coming and given that your skiing experience is inter/advanced then i would recommend elsewhere.
