We have been to Bulgaria quite alot, and really enjoy it.
Its all a personal taste thing.
Its not France or Austria, but then thats why its so much cheaper.
If you go with an open mind you may be surprised.
Some people love, others hate it !
Have a look at the video on post: Fast Borovets, Fast Mountains faster nights!
A holiday is what you make it, I'm sure you're more than capable of weighing up what the pistes can offer you and whether it's right for you.
There are some quite objective posts on threads with genuine varied views on BG, unfortunately, there are some rather argumentative "I didn't like it so neither should you" posts too.

Hi Michelle
Whew, glad you'd not booked for 9th Dec!

re: HELP Bansko or Borovets?
I agree why do people come on here just to slag Bulgaria off, the genuine posts are good & informative. Bulgaria has never pronounced to be the best skiing in Europe but it offers the chance to many people who don't get a chance to go to France, Austria etc as it is a much cheaper option. Anyway if Bansko was really that bad surely the FIS wouldn't be holding a world cup weekend there?? I can't wait to go this year & this will be my 5th time.
Bansko for me - prefer the ski lift and track system - is newer and more up to date and well linked. Better piste management I think - especially from what I have read on here this year. Love the Tordorka views up top. Love the ski road - when conditions are good it to me is the most loveliest run - do it March on a sunny day after a dump of snow - before the end of the day - when it's quiet and all you can hear is yourself breathe and the birds twittering in the trees - bliss!! Each to their own though. I would not rule out a visit to Boro again if snow was good but Bansko is number 1 for me.
Sorry I clicked send too quick as meant to add in that I love that Bansko is a 'real' town and the old part of town with it's mehanas is really lovely - as are the skewers. Oooh, I can almost smell them now - hmm - I'm hungry
