Also guys, a quick update from Bankso. I am not there, so obviously this is simply third party. Apparently a lot icier today than yesterday (as temps have dropped there as well) but still ok to ski. Only bad thing is it is absolutely packed and quite a few crazy locals and apparently a bit dangerous at times. Like I said, I am not there, so I am sure Steve C / Nightmuffy will be on here at some point and give you a proper update.

I'm rather confused as to what i should do once i reach borovets on the 2nd and if there is no snow!?Should i ask for a taxi / horse / carrige to the top, i dont quite get it!?
Sorry for being such the slow coach on grapsing this, but do you reckon the snow cannons will work!

Sorry for delay. Firstly ignore people who say everything is going to open today, it's really not the case. The gondola is shut again today. Yastrebets 2 is open as they have had the snow cannons running non-stop. I will get a call later in terms of the conditions of the slope and will update. In terms of horse / taxi / car etc basically if the gondola is shut, the only way to get to the 4 man chair is by taxi / minibus etc. Some ski schools are running this free of charge (if ...

The 2 drags are open again on the Rila side, but unless you are a total beginner they really don't offer much in the way of skiing and in pretty poor condition. It's still much colder again today (down here in Samokov) and again will update you on the temps up top.

Update..... temps are still low up top and snow cannons on yastrebets 2 are still working and snow conditions are good on there.... some more good news (and a mistake by me earlier) is that Borosport are now organising free transport for everyone up to Yastrebets 2 regardless of whether you have lessons / what ski school you are in etc - this is normally about 15lev.
On the Rila side you will see the 4 man chair running, but they are simply 'testing it' as it was broken a couple of days ago ...

Can anyone remember what wind speed the gondola operates up to? I know it is closed due to wind often. Is it the wind keeping it closed at the moment or the lack of snow up there?Only a few days till I'm out there now. Getting reet excited snow or no snow it'll be great! (but lets dance for snow anyway!)
