bansko's like a building site, pamps is a small place which is an excellent place to learn, I did that my first year and was disapointed with bansko and pamps has a great apre ski!!!! .. completely my point of view, but off back to pamps 2nd March, & praying for cold weather!!! all the best for your hols..
go pamps!!!
right, i think we're heading for Pamps!!! thanks all for your help.
now can anyone please tell us where to stay?? and also (wait for this can of worms to open...) WHAT'S THE SNOW LIKE AT THE MOMENT ?!?!?!? i hear it's getting warmer and we're going out on 1st March...!
Perilik, Murgavets, Hotel Pamps were stopping in this year, stayed in the prespa, that's ok, but no pool.
To be fair, I have heard the Orvalets (not spelt like that) but something similar... is mean't to be a very nice place to stop. You'll be happy any where...
Ps, the snow is ok... just keep the faith, temps might go up a little, but there's plenty to go around and sure they will have a cold snap upon your arrival! if not I'll see ya in the bars, there 1st week of March. All the best ...

Anyway, can only comment on Borovets hotels. The Lion is a really lovely hotel but is a 15 minute taxi/minibus ride to centre. We just stayed at the Breza and I found this to be a very nice hotel (apparently was bad a couple of years back) but has has a refurb, is very friendly and the food is actually ok!
I have stayed at the Snezjanka, the Perelik and the Orlovetz in pamps and all were great and central although I would say if you want a touch of luxury go for the Orlovetz it is fab. Would not recommend the hotel Pamporovo as it seems to have gone downhill last couple of years and it is also not in the centre of the resort. The Murgavets is also supposed to be nice. There is also another new hotel in the centre the dafovska but no idea what it is like. The prespa is also central but at the ...

Hope this helps .....think I have covered most of the main hotels. Have a fab hol ....only been back 3 days and already trying to book next years.
I have just come back from my 4th year in Borovets and have booked for next year. If you are looking for great skiing with some lively nitelife then this is the place to go. I stayed 2 years in the Rila then the last 2 years in the Iglika Palace. Iglika is by far the better hotel with good food and a great bar area. Iglika in the Inghams brochure.
Smigger- just back from the Lion in Boro and it's about a 15minute walk, 5 tops by minibus, it's really not that far and as you say a lovely hotel. Nice place to retreat to for some R&R after a strenuous day on the slopes. We didn't find the distance a problem so people shouldn't be put off, even the children walked it (9 and 11) without complaint.
