Andorra - Good Value - Arinsal is great for beginners - loads of wide open greens but is quiet-ish - Soldeu is fab and has an amzing ski school (Mostly english instructors) and although I haven't been to Pas de la casa I hear it has the nightlife you crave!
Hi all, and thanks again, I have quite a few options now but am still happy to receive a few more as I like to try new places.
Banknote - I can't remember which blue it was, but I do remember that not far from the end of the run is the last corner, although pretty short was quite steep (and other runs met the bottom of it, so you have to be carefull even if your a good skier ), and she was stuck there for half an hour or more, until in the end we had to stop an instructor (her group ...

Because of this and her bad boots etc her confidence has gone, and she really needs somewhere with proper green runs or she'll never ski again, she only tried it because her other half has been skiing for years but would happily never ski if he didn't.
To give you an idea of time, our whole group did this run, most of us then had quite a long lunch waiting for them (her boyfriend stayed with her), then thinking they must have gone back to hotel, went back up the run, and found them still on it.
I know a bit of how she felt as although I have done the odd red run, VERY tentatively (I'm still learning), we went up somewhere for what was on the map a Blue run, but found that the only way down was a red (which my other half told me later was like some blacks he has done) and I admit I was VERY scared as half of it was icy never mind steep, and in the end had to take my ski's off and come down on my bum, which ok was quite good fun, but she would not take her skis off and do this.
Try Kopaonik in Serbia, we went to Boro last year and my wife struggled a bit where the green met the blues. We went to Kop this year and she's going great guns, there is a very good range of slopes and they are not at all crowded as there is only one flight a week out there. I want to go back but the boss now wants to try France or Italy now she is full of confidence.
Hi Bikergirl,
The steep bit is on the end of blue 5/10. The only other option would be to go up and down the ski road all day. With all due respect to your mate, it sounds like she has no confidence at all, and would perhaps benefit from some good one on one instruction. While you are allowed to tell yourself you can't do something, you never will. My wife was similar, and wouldn't take anything on, despite me pleading with her. Once we started to pay someone for the same advice, she went.. ...

Pas de la cas in Andorra is good - a surprising one is Trysil in Norway. went there at new year - VERY friendly, not too expensive, lovely log cabins al over the place and about 5 hours from Oslo Torp that Ryanair fly to - even over Christmas our family flew for £160 return including taxes - £40 not bad at that time of year. You make your own enternatinment and no need for sunscreen as the sun is VERY low.
hope this helps
