I think I spoke to you a while ago about cash points etc. I stayed in the Pirin last year, would have gone back there again but it was fully booked so staying at the new Perun instead.
The lobby bar at the Pirin is lovely, the night bar was quite tacky, but when its 3am after amnesia (what was the only club in town) it's great!
My two favourite mehana in town were near the main square - one was on the corner of the road from the pirin to the square and the other was right ...

It has a great guy who walks around in a huge fur coat pretending to shoot you with a toy gun while you eat. We got a whole roasted piglet and drinks for 10 people all night for under £15 a head.
When we went there was a Balkan Holidays bar crawl on the first night (not at all like an english bar crawl but good for seeing some of the smaller more traditional mehanas) - if you do go on this check if there is food included, as we weren't warned and then felt rude having to leave food in some places.

Got back from Bansko yesterday after 6 days in Hotel Pirin.
Half board basis. Restaurant upstairs serves buffet breakfast and dinner. You need to be open minded about what you eat - the food isn't what I would call poor, but is very different to English cuisine. Take some tea bags if you want a cup of tea!
The food is mostly served luke warm so get to dinner early or you will be queuing for the one and only microwave oven.
The Mexana downstairs is not part of the half-board deal. ...

Got back from Bansko yesterday after 6 days in Hotel Pirin.

Booze prices vary - even from night to night dependent upon the bar staff. We had very poor service from the hotel bar staff who were downright miserable and rude. A 500ml local beer was either 2, 2.5 or 3 Lev. Still cheap by UK standards yes, but the impression was always that the bar staff would charge what they thought they could get away with. Also be aware that they often tell you they don't have any change, so hand over 4 lev for a 3 lev beer and don't expect them to give you any change.

Mark,Many thanks for your posting. Most interesting. As you've just got back can you give me any info about ski lifts. I understand they've installed some new ones this year. Are there still T Bars or have these been replaced. Only asking because I'm not too keen on T Bars. Appreciate any info.
