re: Hotel change!

We used Balkan last year and they were crap. Due to misprint in the brochure we ended up flying to Plovdiv instead of Sofia (for Borovets) as the brochure said Plovdiv was the shortest transfer time, as we had never been to Borovets before we took their word for it ( well you would wouldn't you) When we found out it was wrong they refused to do anything to put it right & wanted another £114 to change our flights. Stayed at the Lion last year, and booked to go again on 27th Jan!!!! We were really impressed with it- room was lovely, staff friendly, bar quite cheap, nice sauna/pool, good location (5 min walk to gondola or bus every 30 mins). The food wasn't great but like you we ate out every evening as its so cheap!! Breakfast edible and filling so you cant complain! Hot food (eggs, bacon, sausage), but also breads, cakes, cold meats and cheese, cereal, fruit, yoghurt etc.....

We met some peeps last year who were at the Perun, and like us they too were impressed. I think the food may have been a bit worse there (well their opinion of course), but they didnt have any other complaints.

The Perun and the Lion are directly opposite each other. The Pirin is in Bansko town but don't know anything else about this one-sorry!

Hope you have a great holiday, which ever hotel you choose Very Happy

Hi Julie,

Don't know what's going on with Balkan but this year anyway they have upset lot's of people for the same reason. I read on here a few days ago about a party of 30 (yes 30), that were told by the Strazhite they were over booked, so you can imagine the nightmare it must have been for them finding accomodation for that many people. Luckily they managed to get in at the Perun where our group have booked, and the good thing is that everyone says their breakfasts are the ...
