How long does it take to learn to ski?

If I were you I'd get on the steepest slope I could find then start to teach myself. It'd be a case of learn fast or get good at rolling!NB Only a fool would listen to me. I certainly try to ignore myself most of the time. Infact the few times I've followed my own advice it hasn't worked out all that well so ignor me. Listen to everyone else.

I went for the first time last year - by the end of day three, the rest of the class was at the top of the mountain doing the blues and I had the blues as I couldn't do it.
Then, my instructor took me for an extra hour privately at the beginning of the day and by day five I managed the long blue in Borovets whilst the rest of the class skied reds.

i learnt at the old age of 13 myself. was on blacks, (not very successfully) by the end of the second week. loved it skied loads for a few years, then got married to a really adventurious bird and havent been now for 11 years. Single again (thank god, or would if she existed,) im back to terrorise the piste and fall over once again as a beginner. the answer to the question is it takes years too learn to ski, but only days to learn enough to get by.
