How much money to take?

I am taking my 2 kids to Pamporovo 18th Feb. We are staying the the Prespa - anyone else going to be there that time? I'll be on my own in the evenings while the kids are asleep, so it would be nice to have someone friendly to talk to in the Prespa ('cos I can't go out while I'm babysitting!)

I have heard that if you need medical attention while you are out there you have to pay up front in cash, before claiming it back off your insurance. How much do I need to take for medical ...

I have heard that if you need medical attention while you are out there you have to pay up front in cash, before claiming it back off your insurance. How much do I need to take for medical emergencies?

Also how much are meals and drinks out there. We are half board so we only need lunches and drinks.

Any help gratefully received.

Jackie

re: How much money to take?

hi
yes it is true, you do have to pay for medical attention up front 2yrs ago i dislocated my shoulder, and with xrays the total cost came to £350 but my my insurance excess £75 it is a bit steep but the service was fantastic.
it is really cheap to eat out in the town centre, but be careful on the slopes thought as they can try to over charge abit.

re: How much money to take?

if you are unfortunate to need your medical insurance you can use your card and claim it back when you get home

Jackie it sounds like you are not going to be out every night downing the Booze as you have the little ones. If you also dont plan on eating out most nights then you really will not need much. I would think around £500 for the week would more than do you if you get through that you will have had a good time. Very Happy

Hi Jackie,
We went to Borovets last year and have booked again this year. We stayed in the Rila Hotel half board, but the food wasnt much to speak of. Myself, my wife and my 9year old son eat out nearly every day and night and were out on the town most nights until late. I exchanged £380 into levs in resort and had money left for the airport. Enjoy your stay, Im booked to go again 25th feb. Very Happy Very Happy

Have you been before skiing?
My wife and I along with our six and a half year old daughter hope to be at Pamps the same week as you .
How old are your children?have they been skiing before ?
Will either of them be in Kindergarten?
Where are you flying from ? and with which tour operator.
The reason I ask all these questions is due to my wife being a reluctant learn to skier, and our daughter is apprehensive about going on her own not knowing any other children ,into kindergarten!

So if they were due to be together I was thinking that they could meet each other early on .

re: How much money to take?

I've been skiing twice many years ago (in the life before kids!) so I'm a bit rusty.

The kids are 7 and 9 (nearly 10) so they are both in ski school 1/2 days, but I'm sure they would like to meet your daughter. Neither of them have skiied before although we are all having lessons at the local dry slope.

I'm sure your wife will be fine once she's been on the snow for a few hours. Is she going to ski school?

Where are you staying?

I'm glad to have found another family in Pamps ...

Hope we can meet up some time.

re: How much money to take?

Hi there,
One question I forgot to ask ; are your children boys or girls?
As for the hotel I'm not sure right at this moment as I am trying to alter things due to circumstances beyond my control.
My wife is booked into a beginers class.
My daughter in kindergarten.

re: How much money to take?

9 year old boy & 7 year old girl.

We're flying from Gatwick, which is none to convenient, given that we live in Devon, but that was all that was available at the time. Which flight are you on?

Good luck with changing your hotel.

Cheers Jackie

re: How much money to take?

Hi Jackie
I know the feeling we are having to travel from Yorkshire to Birmingham for the plane (not good) as its the only flight we could get back at the start of September.
Not too sure yet about the hotel.
Will your daughter be in Kindergarten?
As for your original question 'How much money to take' it obviously depends on how free with the cash you are .

I have been alone on years gone by and had to manage on a tight budget of £45 but then again I dont spend all night proping up the bar,I tend not to want much for lunch and was on a half board basis.
It's worth being aware that although people say that Bulgaria is very cheap ,on the ski slope prices are not,if you are in ski school the instructors tend to take you to their favoured eating places where they get their food and drink for free as well as a small bonus hense the steep prices for the Brits.
Which tour operator are you going with?
