we are going out to borovets on the 23rd our oldest lad (14) has a severe nut allergy, does anyone know the bulgarian for nut or similar, it is really useful to know as we can discuss it with the hotel when we get there also how far is it to the nearest hospital in the worst case scenario,Thanks will

i would suggest, getting in touch with the british or irish embassy in sophia. They would be able to have something drawn up not only for the hotel, but to have on his person in the worst case scenario.I would also specify tyhe condition with insurers

One of my sons has a wheat allergy.I had a card printed up for I think about Ј7 and you can select exactly what you want put on it. It is printed in Bulgarian so there will be no problems with translation.
Definitely worth having and a small price to pay when a life is in danger as with your son.

It may seem silly but I would copy this onto a card and carry it with you....even the best multi lingual people can be misunderstood. At least with it written down there is less chance of a misunderstanding.
It reads.. My son is allergic to nuts. Have you anything on the menu that is nut free. Thank you.

The closest hospital is in Samokov which is 1Okm from Borovets

can you not get an adreniline pen from the doctors this is what i do although wont give me for use all the time. its a long way to any hospital if your having a bad attack, mines shell fish and red wine not nuts didnt have a problem though when I was out there as most staff speak english. get the card as well to be on the safe side.
if you cant get a pen from doc is he under the hospital they should be able to help.
carry some anti hestimines on you as well the other thing ...

Good advice but I really do feel for you been allergic to red wine. Red wine is the drink of the gods!
