Loads of people complaining this year with prices. i know that the top of the gondola is a rip off now, consequentely they are struggling for business.
i still found Borovets cheaper than the normal ski resorts in Europe.
It was never going to remain dirt cheap for ever due to Super Boroveets coming
We noticed the hike in prices when we went in January but were selective as to where we chose to spend our money. By asking for a menu and paying after each round of drinks, they knew we were keeping control over what we were being charged for.
We can make our own protests against greedy prices. As you say, the places at the top of the gondola are now struggling for custom, so they are getting the message that the British are not such easy targets. Places like the Alpina are increasing ...

We love Bulgaria and Borovets and hope this year will be a learning curve for some of the 'bosses'. Most Bulgarians agree with our thoughts on some of the prices this year and are very worried that greed by some will spoil things in the future.
Presumably 'rip off' refer to value for money, not just cheapness. If something is cheap and crap is that better than something a bit more expensive but with much better facilities? I'm not sure what difference Super Borovets will have as the main focus is on building apartments, not on dramatically improving the skiing.
Hopefully everybody will put their thoughts over and they will get the message and hopefully act on it. It is a shame because a lot of people will suffer with their jobs because of a few people being greedy and foreigners will vote with their feet.
Has anybody experienced dual pricing - this is against the law now and should be reported.
We had heard rumours of price hikes before our trip this Feb, but we found everything still considerably cheaper than the UK, and the quality of the food was really good.
One restauranteur happened to mention that one reason prices are going up a bit, is a huge increase this year in their business rates (or whatever they call their equivalent of it) -which obviously will be passed on.

As for prices being high at the top of the gondola, then yes, this is true, but if you want the convenience of eating in a remote location where everything has to be transported much further and working conditions are not so good, surely you can expect to be charged more.
i agree that the prices should be more expenisve at the top. However compared to last year they were up about 100%.At the end of the day it worked out better for us not eating there and instead eating elsewhere.
That hut on yesterbets was really nice and id never been ther before
I dont think that rip off is the correct term.
Boro certainly isnt a rip off compared to other ski resorts but what is of concern is the rate at which prices have climbed this year. My own estimate put increases at around 25% to 30% over last year. If this continues then the value for money that we all enjoy will be eroded within a few very short years. Hopefully the business brains in Boro will spot the fact that bookings will undoubtedly suffer again next year as a result of price hikes ...

Time will tell I guess
