Dirty, no regard whatsoever for health and safety, rip off, rudeness, poor qualty/very old ski hire equipment, extremely long queues, harassment, theft, corrupt police...were a few of my impressions of Borovets.
All of the above together with the heavily inflated prices makes anywhere else a better option.
sounds like you had a very bad holiday - so sorry about that.... your comments are pretty recognisable for anybody who has experienced BG skiing at its worst. Hope that none of this has caused you lasting problems
Got back last night. My phone was stolen on the first night of our holiday...Carphone warehouse gave me a new phone and sim card today...my husbands broken collar bone will take a bit longer to sought out unfortunately! It was an accident that he fell, but poor quality equipment and no care taken when fitting boots and setting bindings led to it being a more serious injury than it should have been. I have been to many ski resorts over the last 30 years and have never seen so many nasty injuries in one week before. (Inclding a huge patch of red snow at the top of one of the button lifts on Friday!)
While I was there last week I was told the Samakov ski depot renews its equipment every 2 years
Went with 2 people who tec at our local dry slope and all our bindings etc were set up ok
No one in our group had a problem with their equipment, skiis came off appropriately
Not skiied anywhere on snow except Bulgaria so can you tell me what H and S issues you felt there were?
Mickey at 2.5 levs/£ which is what I exchanged at 18-20 levs is £7.2 - 8

Didnt think the queues were aproblem except for getting up the gondola on Wed when everyone wanted to go because the weather was warmer up top (-28 day before!), but wow was it worth the wait! Is there anywhere without any queues 1/2 term week!
been to Bulgaria 3 years Neither my family or anyone I have been in a group with or met has had anything stolen
Perhaps you were unlucky muddy boots, sorry your holiday was spoiled, hope your hubby's collar bone gets better soon - it hurts! My nephew did the same in France last year and he is fine now and back off skiing soon.
sorry i disagree i have been to borovets 4 times always had good food cheap drinks never waited more than 20 minutes in a que ecept maybe 20 minutes at the gondola but that was only once best to get gondola around 11 people reconizes us now and we are going back for the 5th time because we love it
Boro's charm was its cheaper than other resort prices and its not bad slopes. But, as with summer resorts that start with cheap prices Boro has fallen for greed and the prices are getting higher each year. The standard of the Lifts, food, Ski hire, Police etc is still the same.
In short, it is a safer bet to spend your well earn hols in a established, regulated resort in either the US or Western Europe.
Greed is a funny old thing. Tourists are also fickle and are only too happy to ...

Greed is a funny old thing. Tourists are also fickle and are only too happy to swap resorts and never look back.
If there is anyone regulating this or the other two resorts then I suggest you start switching on.
