Hi All, have read many reports over the past week re lack of snow in Bulgaria and increasingly becoming a litle worried that when we arrive on the 14th we will be unable to ski. Even read one reivew that tells you to "not waste your money". Having never been to Bulgaria before ski-ing please could somebody out there give me some correct information, is there sufficient snow to ski at present or any info would much be appreciated. Looking at some weather forecasts it looks like there will be more snow w/c 16th Februay, thank you all for any advice you can give for a first timer in Pamps. Best wishes to all who are already there and have a good time!
I believe there is plenty more in the vicinity. There'd better be; we're off on Saturday. As a second-timer I'm not unduly worried. More would be good though.
We go the same day as you. We've been Feb half term week for the past 4 years and have always skiied every day.
Last year, we read on here about the lack of snow, etc, but when we got there it was fine. The year before, the whole of Europe was affected by poor snow. A colleague went to Italy and was unable to ski for 3 out of 7 days because of insufficient snow. However, in Pamps the same week, we skiied every day at the top.
Stop worrying - it will be fine.
Hi like Lizzi I am out on the 14th too and like Lizzi have been out the past 4 years and have seen snow conditions worse than this and have skied every day every year. You will have a ball.... where you flying from and staying?
thank you very much for your responses, feel much more happier now. Going with the hubby and our 13 yr son. Staying at the Finlandia and flying out from Manchester to Sofia (dreading the coach transfer but what the hell). Where you going from and staying? be nice to meet up for a drink or two or three!
Hi jacksprat
We're also flying from Manchester on the 14th - but heading to Plovdiv. Staying at the Snezhanka - just me and hubby (our kids are grown and flown). Be good to meet up and put faces to names
Don't worry about the snow, if you can't see grass at teh top webcam you'll be fine. There was several feet of compacted snow at the top when i was there last week, and even with the rain the top of the mouintain should be ok.
Lizzasnow have you stayed at the Snezhanka before? We have always stayed in milina in the past but thought it would be good for the kids to stay in a hotel to meet others and have booked Snezhanka.
Roser - yes we were there last year. it's a lovely hotel, staff are friendly, food is pretty good. It also had the cheapest bar we found! If you've booked through Thomson you get a free galss of wine/beer or a soft drink with your evening meal.
It's really central and is the first stop for the ski buses, so you never have to queue and can always get a seat.
There's a pool and sauna - but take your own flipflops if you plan to use it as they won't let you in otherwise.
