Just back from Boro, had a good weeks skiing.
Conditions not too bad first 2 days ok on lower slopes then had snow Tues night and all day wednesday, giving excellent conditions until Saturday, bottom runs were starting to get a little icy though still skiable, a bit disappointed that the 2 black runs were closed due to the fact that they had not been prepred so dangerous, not due to lack of snow. Top of the mountain excellent conditions and with added snow cannons will give good conditions ...

Prices: pretty much the same as last year but seems more due to the poor exchange rate, best in resort was 2.02 in the booths. Food same as usual plenty of places to eat and quality ok.
We stayed at the Iglika and rooms warm and dry, clean and food ok, not finest cuisine but edible warm and a choice that will suit all.
Went into Samokov for a meal at the Old House, this is a must, much much cheaper and better quailty, 8 of us went all had 4/5 drinks 3 courses and it all came to 170 lev (£75) the food quality was excellent along with the service and portions big enough to suit the biggest of appetites, Kavarma in resort 16 - 18 Lev in Old house better quality larger portion and only 6 Lev!! be aware you must book as is popular, menu also in english.
All in all another great week with good conditions and would definately go back next year.
relax if it is your boys first time they will love it. A whole week playing in the snow, they wont worry about anything else and neither should you.I found Borovets a great place. I'm sure you will to.
You can get a bus but it is quite a walk the other end so taxi is best.
Negotiate taxi price before and book return journey at the same time. Expect to pay 15 + lev down to Samokov and 20 + lev for return journey. It always costs more to come up to Boro. It takes around 25 mins depending on road conditions.
The Old House is very popular so I would book. Ask your ski instructor to ring for you.
It's my favourite restaurant and is quaint, oldie worldie and great traditional food. ...

Borogirl, I would go and try the Old House....so do a lot of ppl just go to samokov for dinner? or there are sth else worth to visit in samokov?
U said i have to book return journey? does it mean I have to tell the taxi driver when to pick me up again?
I think Samokov Town is not the prettiest of towns and not much for the tourist to see. It is about a 25 mins drive from Boro so I usually only go a couple of times in a week to eat. There are plenty of restaurants in Borovets and most people are happy to stay in the resort, especially if the skiing is good. There is a small skiing area with a new chair lift, a few night clubs, large supermarket, churches, town square and weekly market. - nothing worth missing skiing for.

The taxi driver will usually give you a number to call when you want to return to Boro.
