Well what can I say, how very disappointed I am. I really envisaged after reading through discussions that Bansko was the liveliest and most suitable resort for beginners. I was shocked at the rudness of the Bulgarians, the food, the lack of apres ski and the unbelievable lack of queing for the ski lift. Pushing and very dangerous conditions, no help form any member of the Bulgaria ski team , no meeting point, no snowboards for hire for three days and when finally we did they were shoddy ...

Pushing and very dangerous conditions, no help form any member of the Bulgaria ski team , no meeting point, no snowboards for hire for three days and when finally we did they were shoddy with loose bindign and scratched boards with no grip. Only two blue runs open and both of these were used by everyone at the end of the day to get home!
a very unhappy week.
never to visit again.
major it was unbelievable they cannot cope at all with stress! it wasn't even the busiest time for them either. places to eat were not that good either smokey and greas best palce for food was opposite the huts by traffic lights its underneath pathway. very good food best we had all week shame it was last night
jeans are fine and fleeces or hoodies i wouldn't bother dressing up as clothes get pretty smelly from the cooked food and fat etc in the main town. good luck have fun
recommend getting up very early like 730 to be at lift for 8 ( it opnes at 830) or just go around miday.
Just back as well. Yes - with present conditions it is not suitable for beginners. Too many people and too little snow. Most of the skiers come from ex-soviet countries (mainly Russia) - they are used in fighting in the queues. In some mehanas the food was excellent and so was the service but some of the places were awfull. Luckily we had our own boards with us although after few days riding on the rocks they were scratched and lacking grip.
But overall we found the place nice. I will not ...

But overall we found the place nice. I will not go back to Bansko (or any other resort in Bulgaria) for 10 years - mainly because there are so many places I have not been to yet...
