I have been in Bansko for the last 3 weeks and we are here for the next 2 weeks. There is snow but it is deteriorating reasonably quickly now.
The ski road home is looking a bit rough around the ages as whilst still open (and slightly better yesterday) has been extremely slushy in the bottom third for after about noon for the last 5 days.
Personally, I get to the gondola for when it opens (and that can be any time between 8 and 8.30) ski for three hours or so and then come back to ...

Snow at the top is OK'ish. However, some rocks (a lot actually) are beginning to show through (which makes a different slalom course than the skiers who should not be on red runs!). I guess in summary you would call it typical (but early) Spring Skiing. Oh, it is very warm in the sun!
There has now been a reasonably substantial reduction in the red runs open as there are many preparations being made for the race on 8/9 March. The Tomba black run has been closed for the last 2 weeks or so and I assume that it will not open again before the race. The other closures mean that the chair lifts are quite a lot busier than normal.
All in all, I would say that the snow is disappointing but from what I am told by all the locals much better than last year.
Can you tell me the situation with money, I have various conflicting reports, we have been told that there are no cash machines that accept visa so unless you got a maestro card you in trouble, we have also been told no credit cards are accepted,
Would just like some clarfication on the best ways to get cash whilst we are out there, or is a question of take as much as you will possibel need
ATMs will take both visa and maestro. Watch your statements though as there are frequent problems with cards getting hacked when used in Bansko. Shops probably will not take cards (even though they may have the sign up) but I was surprised that the Glazne took a UK debit card this year.
There's a couple of centimeters forecast for both friday and saturday and a bit on sunday. Let's hope it happens, I'm heading on saturday and if I've to deal with stones and rocks again this year, I'll be rather frustrated and my board will be wrecked.
Will there be runs closed between the 1st and 8th due to the race?
I used cash machines all the time last year and had no problems
