Do we make mogul fields?

You will have quiet pistes, if only experienced boarders allowed. I love Bansko so would have to tie my skis together!!!. Sorry about the mogul fields, but they are good for watching the unwary learn to fly!!!

I think I have picked up and handed back my fair share skis and random poles on the hillside. Thankfully this year the ski road was in such fast condition that I didn't need a tow or my lovely telescopic ski pole that was stolen from the gondola station, hopefully by an underpaid Bulgarian worker and not some rich kid. Smile

re: Just got back from Italy - Go Compare!

Why compare ??? wheres the baseline ??? compare like for like ???
Which resorts in Austria or Italy ??? There are many low to middle resorts in both countries that Bansko would be considered better by the majority of visitors, but what is it proving ??? The constant bickering over what one persons opinion is (and thats what it is, an opinion !!) is relentless, and frankly, just fodder to fill up a post...

What may be good for one, may not be for another... each to their own. If you don't ...

What may be good for one, may not be for another... each to their own. If you don't like Bulgaria, or have found somewhere in your opinion better, don't come... Why is there this constant need to inform of the individually considered shortcomings of Bulgarian ski resorts, when comparing them to some alpine resorts ??? is it that the poster feels responsible that someone may visit and not enjoy it ?? and wish they had gone to Italy or Austria ?? and blame them for not telling Mad

I have enjoyed skiing in every resort i have ever visited, and i have accepted the shortcomings of all, and they all have them... In over 30 years i have determined the type of skiing i enjoy, and Bansko provides me with what i want, in bucketloads Wink

Not the greatest ski destination in the world, but then again, nowhere is Razz

Don, don't stop digging, with all the snow currently in Bansko you can make a massive kicker for us lot, then laugh your ski sox off as we crash land. Very Happy

re: Just got back from Italy - Go Compare!

Steve,
I agree its almost impossible to compare, see my earlier post (focus/ferrari), in the original post the comparison was between Bardonechia and Pamporovo, as you suggest hardly a fair comparison.
What I would say to people who ask is that Bansko, and I am sure the other BG resorts do not try to be like the Alps, if they did they would lose their attraction, the individuality of them.
As I said earlier re the focus, its the most popular car in its class, and I think it fair to say ...

A comparison was made earlier about the amount of piste for the cost of the lift pass, that does not always equate, as it can take ages to get around some resorts, old lifts, etc, etc. On my visit in Jan we were able to get down from the top via any chosen route down to Bunderishka Polyana, then quickly back up again due to the number of fast lifts, the amount of mileage covered can be more per hour this way than in some of the much larger resorts. Plus I never get lost and dont need to keep getting out a piste map.
Very Happy Very Happy

re: Just got back from Italy - Go Compare!

Don, im not having a go at you personally, moreover its just the general comparison thing...
I will agree with you that the lift pass per km is expensive, if you consider some other resorts, but the system is brand new, in fact the resort as it stands is only 7 years old, parts like Challin Valog are even newer. Prices have not risen in real terms for 5 years so i can only surmise that Ulen are looking for as quicker return on their 150 million Euro investment as possible (thats business) ...

The area is very new, much newer than most resorts that it may be compared with. One wonders what it may be like in 10 or 15 years with better established infrastructure and expanded ski area ??
I take the tone of your reply in a positive way regarding your comments, especially the one that keeps you coming back...
Personally i love it here, if considered as a package, its not perfect i agree, but its improving, and in time... who knows ???
