Just after a bit of advice really. We are going on Saturday to Borovets (yippee!) and are beginners. We have passed up to level 4 on the dry slope and had an open practice session which seemed to go OK. Have cracked snow plough turns but can't do parallel turns yet. One of our friends advised us to tell the instructors we have already skied for a week so that we can move on more quickly in the class. What does anyone think? Will the instructors move us on if we are progressing well? ...

Tell them what you've done, but remember, snow is much more slippery than dry.They'll assess you on the first morning and put you into the correct group for your standard.
Just remember, dry is easy in comparison to wet. I've gone from Level 2 on Wet to Level 5 on dry in two lessons...

really depends on the instuctor most of them are pretty good. You are not supposed to book the ski pack if you are not a beginner they get a bit funny but everyone does because it is cheaper. You will in a beginner group but they will help you progress whatever level you are at. I just advise you try and get in a smaller size group so you all get more time with an instructor. They generally spend more time with you than just the stated lesson time if you want it as they do rely a lot on tips ...

nice one vicki. i'm going in a group of 11 but staying in a different hotel - will i be able to get in the same group as them if i ask politely?re: Lessons
Maximum group size is normally 10 or 12 so best thing is to split the group. As long as you all huddle together and look like you belong together, you should, if you are all the same level, be put together.They may ask how many of you there are, and just allocate you an instructor

We spent the whole week doing snow plough turns and did not even have a go at parrell turns (i do not think we were even ready to master them) We spent the week doing snow ploughs and then up to a blue/red run by the last day. Those that had skied had a little test run to which the instructors watched how you got on and then split people into various intermediate groups. This should not at all affect your beginner ski school pack - instructors always move people up or down groups depending on ability!!!!

It all depends on your ability, and the ability of your group. The instructors, if you get a good one, will take you as far as your ability allows - they won't do something you can't manage.J
