Mafia???

Hi All,

Bunch of us (Adults and Kids) heading to Borovets in Feb and having read up a bit it seems that there are some real scammers in town.

What should we watch out for? We are staying at the Samokov

i never seen anthin slighty suspious or got approached by anyone last year( although an old lady sold me a pair of wooly socks for 12 lev or four pints and i wernt very happy) just roumours me thinks.

hiya i alwyas go to borovets and never had a problem
my children happily run around and enjoy themselves and have fun spending their money
there are alot of ladys with leaflets and flyers for the strip club and more but they never overly bothered us
you get the people trying to get you to go into their pub or restaurant but its up to you if you do go in them or nor

its a great place go and enjoy yourself

Before any one else asks, same mafia rumors exsist around Pamporovo. Ive Skied both resorts (Pamps and Boro), and like others here never seen anything suspicous.

I sure the bulgarian mafia exist, and maybe they are in the ski resorts (its where the money is!), but really, their not interesed in you and me. And when you think about it, even if they do exist, we are thier income, in the bars and resturants! So they wont want to drive us away.

Dont worry, Its perfectly safe.

Sorry for being so sarcastic Mark, but after 12 years, these sort of comments get really boring.

You will be fine, and any Mafia presence will be totally undetectable by the average tourist.
