re: Many questions

Hi Jayne

Glad to hear the rip off merchants are not exclusive to Bulgaria. It is well known in Bansko that the ones to go to are the ones that don`t have touts outside. Not too sure about the live music, I think some of the English type bars have live music but I have never been in them, there is no problem with taking kids into any of the bars and restaurants in BG, they are all very welcoming. Have a great time. Don`t know if you have skied before but for the first few days it is good ...

Have a great time. Don`t know if you have skied before but for the first few days it is good to buy just a gondola only pass as most of the drags and travelators at the top station don`t require a pass. I`ll probably get criticised for saying this but there you go!

re: Many questions

Hi Jayne,

Yes - it is more or less the same as in Greece concerning the bars - kids should be OK, as long as they are with their parents.

For live traditional music i would reccomend you the: Baryakova mehana - it's a family-run business bt local people, one of the well-established ones in Bansko. I remeber it from the years when there was only lift in the ski area Smile

You can also finf a free pdf gide to Bansko here /from 2008/2009/: http://www.inyourpocket.com/static/downloads ...

re: Many questions

I've said this before and I'm sure I'll say it again, but you can't really generalise that the restaurants with touts outside are bad... I'm sure some are, but my favourite mehana in bansko is the one walking down pirin st on the right hand side, and this place always has a guy with a big poncho on outside...

Thanks for all the info! No never skied - don't want to ..... too old to start now - but my daughter wants to go and try .... also hubby skied when he was 18 (for a whole week!)and at 47 still believes he 'has it!' So they are the snow seekers not me and my wee daughter - we are going to enjoy the pool at Royal Towers where we are staying.
