Hi, Being the very accident prone lot that we are ( I got knocked out by a football at a kids footy match) I was just wondering what the emergency medical situation is like in Borovets? Obviously we have travel insurance and the new european health cards but just wondered if for instance one of my kids fell and broke a leg what we could expect as far as hospital treatment?
Roll on February!!
Any advice or experience would be gratefully received.
We have ski patrols on the mountain.
Last yr a young guy came down Markujik 2 out of control.....lost it big time.....done his leg in. There was a medical bloke there within 10mins.....they brought the snow groomer up to him loaded him in and took him down to the resort. Not sure what happened from there, whether he needed hospital care or not, but the service on the mountain was excellent.
You'll be right , there shouldnt be any foot balls up there!

We stayed in the samokov and last year my other half damaged her knee, hotel had there own doctor who put a plaster cast on her leg in between smoking his ciggy never seen anything like it. He then had his private ambulance and driver (George most men called this in bulgaria)take us to Samokov town hospital. This was a bit daunting dark and drab with cracked tiles and really run down, BUT we where in and out within twenty minutes

with x-rays in hand knocked spots of our national health service. Ambulance back to hotel and flight arranged with three seats for wife( well done to balkans Rep) when we went to hospital in England the first thing they did was removed full plaster cast and gave her crutches. Doctor bulgaria must of made a mint of our insurance company, but all in all i could say we where treated well and if worse came to happen i would say you are in good hands as long as you are insured. Hope this puts your mind at rest. P.S. old hospitals and cracks i bet they dont have M.R.S.A.

Taken straight to medical centre, by the time the rest of the group had walked from the gondola to the healthcare centre he had been seen and x-rayed,
All in all fom accidnt to coming out on cruthes and strapped up no more than 1.5 hours.

The only down side was that the excess has to be paid up front, so check your insurance.
If been in uk he would of waited for 6 hours in A & E! just to be seen
All sounds good. Thanks for reassuring me! As for giving birth in Bulgarian hospital it was prob better than some of the understaffed wards here but I think will try to avoid that pleasure if poss!!,
