Being in Borovets, i'm not familiar with Pamporovo. And I know very little about type 1 diabetes.
I'm sure the medical staff would be familiar with all types of diabetes. Take the normal precautions. Make sure he always boards with someone....not alone..and advise his snowboard instructor etc.
One suggestion would be to visit the medical centre on your arrival and make them aware of the situation.

i was injured last year other half of mad- mark as he said first class treatment all the way our insurance company provided a driver to meet me at manchester to drive me home from airport, we never had to pay any money at all for medical services and then reclaim it back . the most scary part of it all was that we remembered about an hour before we left out house for airport to begin our hols that we never had insurance so mad dash on internet to buy it, thank god
