Therefore .... I think the moral of the story in Bansko is ....
Learn to ski quicker .... you can then sample the independant eating houses further up the mountain offering cheaper prices and leave the Ulen Restaurants well alone
There are options in Bansko, but they are few...
The `Pesherita' on the ski road allows the guest to sample well cooked local fare, at BG prices, a typical meal coming in around 6lv - 10lv. Beer and soft drink prices again are town prices...
The two hotels still left on the mountain, the `Isverita' and `Shilligarnika' hotels both provide lunches at town prices, both of good quality, with service to match..
The remaining is the BBQ area at Challin Valog, local meats over an open BBQ, great ...

All can be accessed with a bit of care and knowledge, and to this end if next season these establishments have not given in to the Ulen `dollar' we will post all directions and contacts, with hopefully menus... Sadly for those who cannot learn to ski fast enough, they will be obligated to `enjoy ?' the service/care/price of Ulen...
Good luck Kas and Bobby... Unfortunately due to the very poor conditions over the season it was difficult to convince many to come over on our day trips..
The few times we did you were a beacon of light in a world of doom (to much ??? hehehehe), basically you were trying to address a problem which has existed in Boro for a while, and one now we are experiencing here...
Fingers crossed for next season

Not sure what is the standart in Borovez, just had a look in the menu from Black Tiger and okay, its a tourist area. But our cheapest lunch in our holidays we had high up in the mountains in Chakar Voivoda Hut, two bean soups with bread and herbal teas 5 lev...
Or you try to stay in Samokov town Steve C, they even offer mtb tours and different things like hiking, mushroom gathering, fishing big catfishs...
Yes Kas, I confirm that you could eat for less than £7 from your menu. When I said £12 I was taking about Bonkers where Borosports and the Samokov ski schools take most of their classes for lunch as you know. This I felt was probably a closer comparison to the Bansko, Ullen situation. I was also taking about a daily figure not just one meal. We were lucky enough to persuade our Samokov instructor to take us to the WH but then he knows you well and there were three forum members in the class ...

We also eat in the Stone Hut and at the bottom of the mountain and in the little place at the bottom of Yastrebetz. My point being is that it is easy to spend 25lv a day on food, drinks and snacks if you are not careful and exchange rates are not what they used to be when converting to £
Hi Sune, long time no hear
Mtb in Borovets took a massive step forward last season with the opening of their bike park http://www.borovetsbikepark.com/en/
Fantastic park with more trails going in this year. We will be arranging for Brits to come out and visit, initially with publications for editorial and pictures, then hopefully a Brit rider invasion in September, a number of top riders from the UK coming to rip up the ...

Anyone interested in getting in while its still in its embryonic stage please contact myself or Wendy, we can arrange transport, accommadation (great prices) and guiding around the park. We also hopefully will be extending our hire range to include dirt/jump and DH machines...
Malina restaurant (super food, great price) at the bottom of the Rila black have come on board, hopefully we will be putting in a live cam for summer and winter, and the park managers (Ema and Bobbi) are super offering great support.
Boro was the busiest it has been for years last summer, hopefully even busier this summer
Hi guys,
I have been to both Bansko and Borovets in the last two years and I can confirm Borovets has a much better choice and it is not as expensive as Bankso. I felt in Bansko you had no choice but to eat in either of the restaurants outside the gondola. The prices here were expensive, I remember paying as much as 8 lev for hot wine whereas in Borovets I paid 4 lev, that is a huge difference. I can also agree with Kas, we were in her restaurant quiet a few times in Boro and we could get ...

The prices here were expensive, I remember paying as much as 8 lev for hot wine whereas in Borovets I paid 4 lev, that is a huge difference. I can also agree with Kas, we were in her restaurant quiet a few times in Boro and we could get lunch and few drinks for a great price. This would be one of the reasons I would go back to Borovets before going back to Bansko.
