Just got back from Pamporovo. This was about my 5th year there in a row and whilst the company continued to be excellent the holiday was not.
Snow - No-ones fault as bad everywhere but, lack of artificial snow making (and it HAS been cold enough at night) made problem worse.
Prices - In places almost as pricey as many other European resorts (10lv for a chocolate brandy near the bottom of the one man lift). My lovely young lady also got taken for 18 lev from Markony to Mourgavets.... ...

Lifts - Same old break downs and silly queues (and up in cost).
I love Pamps and have always wanted to go back every year but, not next year. I will sorely miss the great people (thanks as always to the guys at the snowshack for good prices, service and company) but, time to save up for North America I think.
good honesty Dan, if we all forget the romance and remember we are looking the ski, no one in their right mind would book pamps with confidence in Dec or Jan next year regardless of costs but just for risky snow russian roulette.
The shame is it soundslike BG is doing a 'greece' the year it joined the EU which co incided with it getting more popular prices shot up(a la BG). i guess it is just 'sim city' economics..if you have the population without the give away rent then donr give it ...

BUT pricey andorra did come with a plus...they invested HEAVILY in cannons and along with the Italians they do it best...
Bloody hell that taxi was expensive last year I was paying around 13 lev for the same trip and around 8 when I first went in 98. So that makes it over 100% rise in 9 years!!
I think Bulgaria will price thenselves out of the market. Lovely though the country and the people are, if the snow conditions are poor and prices high, people will just go elsewhere. North America has the best snow that I have ever seen and the two trips I have done there haven't been a great deal more expensive than I am paying for a school holiday week in pamps. I am already thinking that this year might be our last.
Loads is an understatement, I was thier 1st week in May an good skiing was still, to be had and sthe season does not end until I think nearly the end of May!!!
The town itself is great loads of fantastic restuarnts and bars and eating is is not expensive nor is drink.
got to agree on some of the negative points of bulgaria - just come back from borovets - we had a good time on the whole but there were some disappointing things
we went boarding - the snow wasn't too bad - could have been a lot better though - there were lots of icy parts but the snow cannons weren't turned on the last couple of days for some reason - being a novice boarder the green and blue runs were okay but reds were a bit dicy as i found it hard to turn - lots of people were wiping ...

we went boarding - the snow wasn't too bad - could have been a lot better though - there were lots of icy parts but the snow cannons weren't turned on the last couple of days for some reason - being a novice boarder the green and blue runs were okay but reds were a bit dicy as i found it hard to turn - lots of people were wiping out - yet the cannons were sitting idle - they were on earlier in the week though - and the gondola was closed for most of the week due to winds/breakdowns ? so we only got to go up to the best snow a couple of times - very disappointing
hope anyone going this week has lots of snow !
Anyone going to the Buzz Bar hoping to get drunk - DON'T have shorts like vodka and coke or JD and coke - they are either severely lacking in alcohol ( ie None at all ! ) or i'm immune to alcohol - trust me i'm not - one night i had about 7 or 8 vodka/water ? and cokes before wising up and going onto the bottled beers ! good atmosphere but a bit of a rip off joint !
I went to Pamporovo last year which wasn't as bad - but Canada is looking likely for next year
Borovets - if you rip us off we won't be back !
well finally there is some balance in the info about the skiing places in BG.I was curious at the beginning -reading the postings everything was looking just bril. You would think -gosh am I missing something in this place.
prices since last year I found to be exactly'' a rip off'' -the same goes for the ''beach''.Hope there wont be people just hooked on a romance with the place cos there isnt much at this present moment in time.
