Whatever brace you decide to go for, just check with your physiotherapist that it will do an adequate job.
My physio initially was dead against the idea, but then soon realised that if she didn't advise a suitable brace, I would just get on the board without one at all.
She did warn me about the wrap around neoprene braces as being insufficient, but that was then when my injury was still fresh and further damage easily possible.

I took the decision to go with the Mueller HG 80 purely based on online research, plus the fact it's had another whole year to recover further.
I am still tempted to modify the Mueller so it locks before chance of hyper extention, but can still bend for other normal movement.
I put a lighter brace on my other knee but only because I do tend to put a little more into that knee and I find it stops some of the ache at the end of the day. Also by keeping it that bit warmer also seems to help
dbut
i don't think its your skiing you should be worried about - I have heard about the states you get in during the evening! You probably will fall down a flight of steps somewhere!
Love when everyone starts talking about aches and pain1
It is possible to continue skiing, just have to be sensible and listen to your body.
This is the boring bit!
EX PE teacher for 30 year and played Rugby for far too long before retiring.
7 keyhole knee surgeries 4 on Right and 3 on Left.
No ligament damage luckily, which does affect the stability of the knees if damaged and probably best to use a good brace as suggested form previous posters.
Had to take early retirement ...

Had to take early retirement from PE teaching as the final straw was hip resurfacing (1/2 a hip replacement).2 years ago!
BUT..... Can still manage to ski, can't keep up with some of the youngsters, but still managing to do it!
Take it easy and just enjoy being on the mountain! If I forgot myself and do too much, the knees will swell a bit, just take a good anti inflamatory. In our Apartment block. Pamporovo Palace we have a British owner who is an orthopaedic surgeon!
Its great over a Beer with him in the Danmar you can get a free consultation. As has been said before take care with the falls and you have to be vigilant for others who are skiing a bit too fast for their ability and give them wide birth... Or hope they give you one!
On the Stansted -Plovdiv flight tomorrow morning Jan 12th and will be in Pamps for the rest of the Season so hope to meet up with some of the forum Members.
Mostly found in the Danmar or maybe later at DAks.
If you see some one who looks like Phil Mitchell from East Enders, thats me! Although I am a far nicer chap that him!
I shall be skiing like Miss Daisy (under threat of death from Mrs J (if I dont make it for the half term trip!)
Snow White, I have noted your comments. It's not my fault Chepalare is a scary place at 4am after several cheap Bulgarian whiskies. That bouncer was a scary fella (so I was told).

re: More Knee Help please
Hi Ian J
i use a Ski Mojo yes the initial outlay was pricey but I feel it is well worth it both knees damaged off playing Rugby mainly wear and tear.
the mojo is a god send took a bit to get used to but helps me ski for longer.
This years upgrades have improved it even further we are out in Borovets from 27 feb until 13 March
I have dodgy knees due to age, I wear a normal knee support from Snow and Rock, not cheap but I do last the week skiing, soak in the bath and plenty of Vodka works for me. If you ski may be worth getting moulded inners for your boots as well, takes the pressure off your knees as they fit the arch from a mould of your foot. Snow and Rock again.
Fortunately I invested in moulded boots last year so ok on that front - a godsend!
Had the ski mojo demo at Ski show at NEC a few weeks back. Looked great but has visions of me not unlocking the springs in time on the chair lift and doing several laps in the air!!
