I'm bringing my family out for their first snowboard experience on 4th Feb. I want to make sure they have the most amazing time and it's a real holiday to remember (partly so we can make it a family staple!!). Can anyone recommend the best and most memorable activities we can do in and around Borovets? Already thinking of doing a ski-doo and horse drawn sleigh ride.
You can hire big tyres (or your travel rep will arrange) to slide down the slopes on - sledging is also fun later on when the slopes not so busy and there are loads to hire or you can buy bum boards really cheap - both are done in front of Ice Angels hotel. Have Fun!

Try swimming in the Samokov hotel swimming pool, that'll take your breath away.
We rented and purchased various sledges and bum board type things last year and spent a good couple of hours under the floodlights. All the kids, even the 48 year old really enjoyed it. You can also sell them back to the shop at the end of the week if you want. We have found some blow up sledges which we are going to bring with us this time.
Ski as many runs as possible, sledge at midnight while very drunk (we have some great video of last year, grown men and women sliding on trays down a black run at midnight, absolutely hillarious) I took my 8 year old son to the top of the sitnyakovo and we skied all the way down together, he loved the freedom of been out of ski school, this year hes coming all the way down the Yastrabets side with me.
Ski-doos are great, as is the bumboarding ... either pay your tour op for the pleasure or buy your own wee sledge. There's also a ski show mid-week that your wee boy will love, but wrap him up warm!
Horse Drawn Sleigh Ride however ... forget any romantic ideas you have about this. Remember you're in a rickety metal contraption (with wheels, not skids) a few feet from a horse's backside. Great fun for short taxi rides, but wouldn't want to be stuck in one for any length of time!
Don't ...

Don't worry about other activities too much, if you're all snowboarding all day, you'll be too knackered to do anything too adventurous at night.
