Phew! A voice of common sense at last. You are dead right about this tipping business. When i worked as a waiter I was grateful if anybody left me anything. On another note - my original plan had been to go to Pamps, but it was fully booked.

We too were a family travelling on a budget with me and 2 children skiing in one group and my husband skiing with a different instructor. I was in no way suggesting that YOU personally were tight - just that I could understand his disappointment - next to adult only groups he, should we say, did less well and usually with the children the instructors need to work harder.

We tipped accordingly bearing in mind 3 of us were in one group and 1 in another. Obviously 1 chap got more than the other - he worked very hard to make my time skiing with the children both enjoyable and manageable. He carried skis and helped me get them ready in the depot in the mornings. He was not required to do these extra duties but I appreciated it.

I used the currency convertor on the computer which gives a reasonable rate of exchange and 120 lev works out at £42. If you only had 9 in your group then you did very well last week as nearly all the one's we came across had at least 12 people in. Again one of the disadvantages of half term.

I must admit that we rarely left tips in the restaurants except the Avalanche on our last evening as we had enjoyed using their services throughout the week.

At the end of the day we all have different opinions of the Bulgarians and we have always found them to be genuinely wanting to make your holiday successful rather than money grabbing.

Oh! and by the way our instructor from last year did actually spend a weekend with us last summer so I may be somewhat biased Very Happy
