I have been reading this board since before Christmas and generally find it funny and informative.I'm sure it adds extra excitement to the build up to everyones ski holiday. One thing I have noticed lately though is that if someone posts a report containing any criticism they are labelled negative.

Sure some people will find things to complain about in any area of life but everyone is entitled to their opinion and frankly a lot of the areas of complaint are being referred to repeatedly. A picture seems to be emerging of rip offs, poor service and a couldn't care less attitude inthe resorts .Did you read the post about the lethal state of the short run from the ski centre to the three man chair in Pamps ?That is just one example of the can't be bothered attitude I pick up on in holiday reports.
I am going to Pamps this sat with,as always an open mind determined to have a good time but i wont turn a blind eye to poor standards just because it's Bulgaria.
Cheaper than the Alps maybe but safety standards for example are also a lot lower .
If BG is to compete with the big boys, and they will be if prices rise they must improve general standards also.
I was there last week. First time skiiing. The small run from the ski depots to the three man lift was horrendous. I could'nt ski to it (not good enough) but by mid to late week I could barely walk to it. That is nothing to say of standing in the queue slipping and sliding on what was pure sheet ice!!! I was surprised at this!!!
I think you need to differenciate between negativity and realisum.
For years I have been flying the Bulgarian flag and nobody has been more positive than me in over 7,000 posts over 6 years.
However for reasons I have already mentioned since my return in previous postings, this year in my opinion, there has been a lowering of some basic standards in both the resorts I visited - and that hs nothing to do with the lack of snow.

If people want to be told the truth - then they have to be prepared at times to read something that they would prefer not to read -- and that should not result in the poster being criticised for telling it as they found it.
I agree that many gripes may be trivial - but that's up to the reader to either ignore it or place it into prespective as to how it may, or may not affect their holiday.
I agree with what you say Pete,my main point being that some situations are potentially dangerous, others merely annoying but I don't necessarily agree with the " oh its what its always been like in Bulgaria" outlook.Thats not good enough.
i am confused though about this run in pamps, how is that the fault of Bulgaria? there has been a problem all over europe with the snow.
What i have noticed in Boro this year, much better signage, nice to see Borosport spending some money, also the new travelator or what ever you call that thing, also more pistebashers, and the 'shopping street' has been a lot safer to walk down after years of complaints.

on the other side, the lift staff are unbelievably rude and unhelpful (ok im sure there are a few exceptions, but generally..), i have encountered more complaints about instructors than ever before, but theres a whole debate there re pressure/pay/short season/ new guys want a year long job etc etc, the restaurants up the mountain are extortionate for Bulgaria, and the class sizes are getting bigger.
However, i still find people a lot friendlier than the last time i was in Austria, motorway skiing, so you pays your money and you takes your choice...
Your lift pass allows you to use the mountain. It is the responsibility of the lift operators in Pamps to keep the areas around the lifts as safe as possible. Not dealing with sheet ice is irresponsible. What would you say if your council didn't bother to grit the roads in icy conditions?
