Right, I promise I will poke my nose into all relevant messages, but for now I am going to have a big whinge, then sit down to watch A Beautiful Mind and forget my problems with a glass of wine. I got called into the office today and told that my team's work may have to be handed over to the Hong Kong office because the company is not selling enough and it will be cheaper (and crap!!) to get it done there! Redundancy threat letters were handed out and they said sorry! 12 days to go and I get that! So, remember me saying I was gonna try to lay off the hard stuff in Pamps? Forget it! Alcoholism re-starts here!! Any jobs going in the White Hart?? Ah, well. In the words of the great man himself... THAT'S LIFE!!
I'll be back (tomorrow). Hey, this is the beginning of the rest of our lives. C'est le vie. God, I know all the cliches. Mmmm, Cabernet or Merlot. Decisions, decisions!
That is a bit if a pi**er mate, is there much call for a power tool crazed ex semipro footballing, drunken reptile out there??
I'm sure with your powers of persuation you will sort them out and make them realise that the manuals are tough enough to understand now, let alone if they were done in Hong Kong
If so, you have an interview in the Marcony at 5pm Monday 26th.
Role-play will be a part of your interview, you need to extol the virtues of the Lada Riva and try and sell it to me.
We will discuss terms then.
I got made redundant 10th September 2001 - after the next day I never thought I would get a job. Look at me now - happily settled at the BBC and been there since November 2001 (after 7 weeks of garden leave when I couldn't take another job anyway).
Sometimes s**t happens, but everyone in my team who was made redundant got better jobs and a decent package. Well at least it paid for my first skiing holiday.
There is always light at the end of the tunnel. Don't be too downhearted.
My husband was made redundant at the grand ole age of 44 after 26 years as an accountant with the same company, that was seven years ago He's been a self employed driving instructor ever since... best thing that could have happened for us. Enjoy your holiday, life will go on afterwards and you will sort it all out.
Best of Luck
Lizzard I would have a bottle of Merlot myself mate People do often say that being made redundant was the best thing that happened to them! Your teams productactivity has it gone down in the last few weeks? Might be something to do with this board. Perhaps you could sue?
If push comes to shove you can have a job with Little Devil Cars I am sure my customers would like a little reptile driving them!
If its any consilation im on redundancy 8 in my life, 6 in the last 2 years. i worked out ive 3 times more money by being made redundant than i otherwise would. pisser is ive only got 10.5 hours work per week now, but pays almost as well as some of the other full time jobs. Eu grants have been taken away in this area, so loads of places closing, the industrial estate is like a wasteland. BUt look on the bright side you will prob end up better off in the end, i sure have.
