Me just thinking I am 41 on the 3rd of Feb so all being well and I keep in good health I could ski up to say 65, which gives me 24 more ski holidays has anyone come accross any real oldies skiing. By the way I will be in pamps from the 22nd of Feb for those wanting to buy me belated birthday drinks
not sure about oldest, but can anyone top this for the baddest!
(in this matter 'baddest' does not mean shit!)
Andorra 2002: i saw a guy skiing on one leg (he only had one). he had some crutches with little skis on the bottom!
MK Xscape 2007: I saw a gut snowboarding with no legs! both had been amputated just above the knee. He had his stumps mounted straight onto his board. And he was awesome!
Guy called Vim from Austria skied Pamporovo every year up until about 6 years ago. He was 84 and still skied the blacks as well as staying out to the small hours partying.
Not seen him the last 6 years so not sure if he's still alive - but what a man!!!!!!
Met a guy at Wild Cat mountain in New Hampshire about 4 years ago. 79 and skied every day on his seasons pass. 2 Hours a day and then lunch before going back home and putting his feet up.
He was chatting up my missus when i met him cheeky old git!!
Top Bloke though - i can only wish i'll still be boarding at that age!!!
The olympic champion from 1952, Stein Eriksen, still ski. He turned 80 11 december and have is own ski school in the states. Still a very good skier. :-)
I've 10 years on you MONTY - in fact at your tender age I hadn't even started skiing.
And I have seen people who LOOK older than me on the slopes but I've never been so rude as to ask their age!
At my local dry ski slope there is an over50s club who meet once a week and take a ski trip each year. I have resisted joining them so far as they seem to be many more years greyer, wrinklier and creakier than me!
I was taught by a guy called Hans Kuval in the early nineties he was 72 and a fantastic skier. He came out to Cyprus to take an instructors course with a lady called Pat, can't remember her last name, on the dry slope in Episkopi. He looked like a little old man you could knock over with a fart, but could do short swing turn with such power and technique that he could go back up the slope.
They were both from the Hillend Dryslope in Edinburgh and used to come out to Cyprus every year to ...

They were both from the Hillend Dryslope in Edinburgh and used to come out to Cyprus every year to teach the instructors, I also had the great joy of going out for a couple of drinks with him, which turned into an all night session finishing up in a bar in Limosol at 6 in the morning still drinking and eating a full fried breakfast. What a legend, I'd hope he is still around, if not God bless you Hans.
