Bulgaria Ski discussion board

I know for a fact that people who's business is us (from the UK) read this page and I am sure they are taking note and hopefully will act upon it, John Welling has a point (his second post) cos if he is an instructor I bet he takes the tips at the end of the week and his wages come from.......

Scum - Well I was in pamps 2 weeks ago, 3 teachers and a solicitor was our group, spent loads of money, brought stuff for orphanage and had a fantastic time, will come again. When we spent money about half the times we did not get offered the change. In this country you spend 1.99 and give 2 quid you always get given the 1p.

This is really a great comment and shows that some people are quite close to reality with their comments.
I am not British and I do not agree with general comments about any huge groups of people, but if the price of a pint makes the decision, take the ferry to the Nederlands, take a cheap hostel and buy your Amstel or Heineken in a supermarket. You will have a cheap holiday and may report to us about the quality of slopes afterwards.....

I have been skiing now since I was 10 (34 years). I have been to several countries and several resorts including Bulgaria 25 years ago. I had nothing but fond memories of my time in Bulgaria back then. This year however my trip back to Bulgaria (Borovets) resulted in me coming home feeling very differently about the place. This was due to having personal property stolen, being ripped off on more than one occasion lack of updated amenities and equipment and a general lack of customer service. My husband and I have never behaved in the way the Bulgarian ski instructor describes the English and his words just confirm my opinions of Bulgaria and many (not all) of it's residents now. I pity any English skiers who have the misfortune of being taught by 'Bulgarian ski instructor'. I wonder why he did not use his name............!!!!!!!ummmmmmmm!!!!? There are plenty of other places to ski in europe that are just as cheap as Bulgaria but with better customer service and more extensive ski areas. I will def not be going back, especially now it has been made obvious by 'Bulgarian ski instructor' how the Bulgarians feel about the English and therefore why we were treated so badly during our week out there.

We've been going to Pamps for several years now and although we probably will return as we have Bulgarian friends out there I have to say this year I was shocked by the sex shop that had opened and the knives and knuckle dusters on sale in the shops. I not a prude but with 2 kids this is not the sort of thing I expect to see in a ski resort.
So Ski instructor if you are going to slag anyone off then you must also blame your fellow country men for opening shops like this and selling rubbish cos this will surely just encourage crap behaviour from the mindless few who ruin it for everyone.
