Hi guys. I came to Bansko couple of days ago and found out that at least the rental place next to gondola does not rent helmets at all. I gave the only one we had with us to my youngest one (15 years) who wants to go to fun park and me and my oldest one decided to avoid the black slopes and to be very carefull at the first day at all. To be honest, I was a little bit scared the whole day.

Anything can happen, but many things you can repair somehow. But our heads, they're are so too fragile..
O.k I got a bit of ribbing from our group, but being honest I enjoyed wearing it. It felt better than wearing a wollen hat.
It didnt move around like a wollen head does, and my heady didnt get itchy like it normally does after an hour or so wearing a woolen hat.
When I bought the helmet(Via the web) I was wondering would I actually wear it when it came to going up the mountain skiing. I wore it from the off, and after 10 mins I didnt notice ...
This was the first year I wore a helmet.

I will never ski without one.
Its not the fear of falling that makes me wear one. Its the fear of some out of control idiot that wears a helmet, crashing into me scares the life out of me. Now I feel more secure!!!
hi pete just a question would it not be a good idea for insurance companys to state that if you are not wearing a helmet that the policy would not be validated
Pete, I do agree with your sentiments and have begun wearing a helmet myself. However, I am sure that this should not be the only focus. I would argue that out of control skiers or those who are purely wreckless should be the focus. I would like to see more patrols on the slopes by superintendants with the power to invalidate a lift pass if they see behaviour that is just down-right dangerous.
Thanks for asking James - we are currently waiting for the vet in Plovdiv to send a blood sample to a laboratory in Surrey to carry out the rabies test. Once that has been done and provided the results are clear she will be allowed to travel. Expecting it to take about 3 weeks in all.
Meanwhile she is busy entertaining the guests at the White Dog in Pamporovo where she is being spoilt rotten
Just back from Pamporovo, had a great time as always. On the subject of helmets me and my better half bought and wore helmets this year and all I can say is we should have done it years ago, very comfortable and warm as well.
As a motorcyclist and longtime helmet user I feel a couple of points should be made, to be effective helmets must fit, must be done up!!, and must not be worn over a hat or cap. We saw plenty of helmets being worn but some would do more harm than good as they were ...

As a motorcyclist and longtime helmet user I feel a couple of points should be made, to be effective helmets must fit, must be done up!!, and must not be worn over a hat or cap. We saw plenty of helmets being worn but some would do more harm than good as they were not worn correctly or done up. And as a final rant - sorry - when carrying a helmet to or from the resort or slopes take care of it, don't have it hanging loose from a bag or a belt where it can be damaged - you'll only find out when it's too late.
I am thinking of buying a helmet this year. Could I pick one up in Bulgaria any cheaper than over in the uk? (I am staying in Bansko). Now due to being a girl - I would like a nice one, so I am not worried about getting the cheapest of the cheap - I just wonder if there is much of a price difference buying gear in resort or over here.
