Hey, does anyone know how much remaining time you need on your passport after your return date to go to Bulgaria? About to book for Boro but realised it expires in May, and I know some countries require x months on a passport after your return date before they'll let you in. Cheers

6 months do it now , ime out on the 26 Feb, my kids expirer in may had to get new passports.

I had same worries last year. Turned out because Bulgaria in eu you need 3 months.Marc

mine runs out in may, return from Boro 31st jan will the passport be ok for this trip

Thanks for the link Sarah was getting a bit worried
as we fly out the 21st, first someone told me 3 months which is fine but then someone at work said 6 months which would have been total disaster well headache more than anything owe you a drink

In short the answer is none.
My kids both run out in March and we fly next week. I checked last year with the Foreign Commonwealth Office (on their website and I also called them) - This is what they said:
Entry Requirements - Passport Validity
You must hold a valid passport to enter Bulgaria. For stays of up to three months your passport must be valid for the proposed duration of your stay; you do not need any additional period of validity on your passport beyond this. However, it ...

Apparently no EU country can set additional requirements for the travel of EU citizen for a stay of up to 3 months. All you need is a valid passport which covers your stay....
Although I don't mind admitting this post spooked me a bit as I fly next Thursday and I'd can't see me managing to get replacements before then! I've rechecked and the situation hasn't changed, thankfully
