Passports

Please help anyone! I know when you go to the states you need at least 6 months on your passport! Does the same rule apply in Bulgaria (should know as this is our 4th visit in as many years)!! Panic Panic

Yes it does.

You need a minimum of six months from your return date.

Well, when I went to Bulgaria last year that was the rule i.e. 6 months left from the date you are due to leave Bulgaria. However, I read on this forum last week that it is now 3 months according to the Bulgarian Embassy. I'm just quoting what I read on hear so I can't confirm if it's correct or not.

That's what is stated in the 2006/7 Balkan brochure. 6 months from return date.

To be honest - that should be something that they check at point of departure!
But am sure the pressure is just to get as many people checked & weighed as quickly as possible.

It is checked on departure - on check in, and if it's not got 6 months on you may well miss the flight.

Thank you. Just realised both my daughters passports run out in July but thankfully we're not going until 24th Feb so I have time to sort!

So what happens if you haven't got 6mths on your passport? Don't they let you on the plane or do they send you home again when you get off in Bulgaria?

They won't let you in Bulgaria.
