Just checked on fco.gov.uk and it confirms that the passport only has to be valid for the duration of stays of up to 3 months, no requirement for additional validity - sighs of relief all round!
just a thought if it suits any of u guys to renew passports before u go,the expiry date of your existing passport will be the start date of your new one,so u dont lose anything in that respect, cheers Paul
Had this dilema last year. The travel agent said six months, but a link I found searching this forum pointed to the Bulgarian Embassy website which said just for the duration. Took a print out of that with me, but didnt need it. As stated though, since you've identified it months in advance, prob just as well to get it renewed now just to be extra safe.
The question has been asked many times before. Passport only has to be valid for the duration of the stay. Handy really as mine ran out a day or so after we returned in Feb. I suppose i'd better renew it
Rich i dont need passport at all,i am on first name terms with every passport control officer in every country in the world,u r fighting a losing bingo battle, its happening.get used to it
It is worth remmembering, that although EU rules state that you are entitleled to travel through a member state so long as the passport is current, the Bulgarian Officials have always been a little slow to adopt some of the EU regs, personally I think I would renew if only 1 month on passport.
