Pay to take kids out of school

A couple of years ago, my niece went on a school trip in term time - skiing!
So it's OK for the school to take them, that's educational, but when parents take them, that's truancy and the parents are now liable for a £100 fine.
Go figure that one out!

Good point - parents can tell the school that the skiing holiday is educational

Absoulutely - a cultural experience, they will learn a little of a foreign language, develop a physical skill, enjoy some quality time with their family and come back refreshed, relaxed and invigorated.
I wish a week at school would do all that for my kids.

Don't worry Gary they are all back to school next week. - soon be half-term again though
