I just got back from Bansko this weekend, and they shut banderishka on Tuesday and said it could be for the rest of the season. Someone told me the avalanche threat is the biggest one for years. On Tuesday they were talking about shutting the gondola and bussing people from town or the mid station to Shiligarnika.

By Tuesday our beginners were on the ski road, and the easy blues, but as we were leaving on Friday it looked like they were installing a baby drag on the ski road from Shiligarnika to Banderishka (at the bottom of red 7) which looked like it may have been to create a nursery slope area.

Other than that the snow everywhere was amazing, few days of fresh powder, which became a bit icy in places at the end of the week. The top was only open a couple of days but there was still plenty to keep a group of 19 skiers and boarders of varying abilities amused.

Very jealous of those who are heading out there, I didn't want to come back. All the changes from last year were for the better, specially the new lifts and runs, and of course the creation of the happy end at the bottom of the gondola.
