Piste Maintanance Companies Details

Hi,

does anyone know how we can contact the different piste maintanance companies and write them a proper letter of complaint so something can be done for next season?

I really think raising this will solve many problems!

Very good idea, email might work better meaning everyone on this forum could correspond this way, more complaints more eyebrows raised

May get something done.

Depends on the resort - for Bansko write to Ulen, for Borovets, to Borosports. For Pamporovo I don't know.

What would you want them to do? Invest in more piste bashers? Train the drivers in piste maintenance? Bring in foreign managers who have a clue? Or all of the above?

Hi Maria,
Ullen have done really well this year with piste maintenance in Bansko. The runs have been open since end of november, not all at all times obviously but whatever could be done has been done. They have ran all cannons whenever possible and the ski road up to now has been open and available to ski all the way down since Nov'. With the lack of snow we have had i think that they have done a great job this year.

It can always be better. Their pages show that ALL pistes are open but there is 4 closed if im correct? They should also make the pipe like they hype to the snowboarders. Its not the weather what counts this year. 3 years back has been a lot worse. This winter is really good compared to those so there shouldnt be any excuses. Does anybody know ulens e-mail adress?

Bansko run number 12 has been unpisted all season. Last season it was open in January when we where there in February it was closed. Not expansive skiing can,t afford to loose 12 as well as the permanently closed 14.

Could just be me but hasn't the maintainence in Pamps stepped up a gear in the last month since the sackings?

I agree with you FN - since the 'changes' there has been a noticeable change of gear.

Borovets piste management when I was there at Xmas was terrible, but I fear that a huge invesment is required judging by the machinery on display.

it is a shame because if the pistes were managed better, it would make a huge difference.

Matti, i agree that they can always do better. The half pipe in my memory has only been done once in the past six seasons, the cutter sits at Shilligarnika unused.
There is the need for quite a bit of snow to cut a pipe, ok, they could pull it in but the area that would be best suited for a pipe, does not lend itself to that sort of use.
Personally i feel there is no euthusiasm from the pisteurs to build a park of a reasonable standard unless its to host a comp (last years Burton ??).... ...

I do agree with Muffy though, Ulen overall have made huge efforts this season over what they have done in previous seasons, even working on projects through the summer (drainage, stream culverts etc), re, run 12, the two streams at base of the run do require culverting, it also is one of the few runs with no cannons. If snow cover had been sufficient then the run would have been pisted earlier, perhaps this area will be a project for next year along with the re-opening of 14 ??? Smile
