re: Price increase or wot!!!!!!!!

Havent the faintest idea, but whoever it was they have not done themselves any favours, borovets IS cheap this year, but it WONT be next year, perhaps they are going to rebuild it, and heat up the food, it is such a shame, i had a really good time..............

We too have noticed the increase in prices over the last 3 seasons and that is the main reason we have been skiing this year. We have been looking into other destinations for next year mainly because we don't know anything other than Borovets and so our opinions are rather biased. Simon (Hubby) also feels he'd like to try somewhere different.

The accommodation costs even in France are competitive compared to half term in BG, which is when we have to go as I work at school. The main killer for the other European resorts is the lift pass, ski school and equipment hire which are generally 3 times the price of Borovets.

I don't imagine the Bulgaians on the ground see the same increase in their wages as we ss in the price of our holiday. greedy UK tour operators. No wonder parents risk a fine for taking their kids on any holiday during term time!!

re: Price increase or wot!!!!!!!!

You also need to bear in mind the cost of apres ski. Went to Val di Sere once, and it nearly broke the bank!

A lot of other Euro resorts will happily charge £4-5 for a beer or coffee!

and also skied an area called postalm in austria , small ski resort but good deals and great accomadation in a village called wolfgang on the edge of the wolgangse lake. not too much nightlife but very cheap for austria, so cheap skiing is not just bulgaria,Im planning on going to boro again next year then prob stick to europe in future.
its not only the hotels which have seen an increase , some of the bars are now charging rip off prices by bulgarian standards.
4 lev would buy a round for 6 or 7 people anywhere else in bulgaria but in the rila hotel it gets you 1 pint.

re: try less famous resorts

Do you think they realise what they are doing, people will just not go., no one like to feel they are being ripped off, i cannot beleive that prices can go up by so much in such a short time, quite sad really coz everyone that goes there seems to have such a good time, we were going to get a large group together to go next year, coz i said it was so cheap........and i mean cheap....... we paid £149. h/b inc flights transfers, everything really, was reallly surprised when i saw the price.
