RIP OFF TAXI'S SOFIA AIRPORT

What a great start decided to take my wife to our apartment in bansko just to check everything in place for the winter season. Arrived at Sofia airport 12.50am where i was expecting to meet my normal transfer which i have used for the last 10 visits. Yes you guessed it they did not turn up. What a great start decided to take my wife to our apartment in bansko just to check everything in place for the winter season. Arrived at Sofia airport 12.50am where i was expecting to meet my normal transfer which i have used for the last 10 visits. Yes you guessed it they did not turn up. Made contact with them to be told they have made a mistake but could not come out now. and told to use the taxi from the airport which i new straight away this is going to be a nightmare. Got a price from the lady in the hut of 100 euros which was good for that time of morning. Jumped in the taxi with my wife to receive the most terrifying journey of our lifes. We were both awake all the way as we could not relax and yes he did not speak a word of english.
Got to our apartment in the lucky bansko complex 3 hours and 20mins later which is far to long for that journey that time of the morning (he did not know where he was going )
Went to pay the agreed amount of 100 euros plus a tip just to keep him happy. We then forced to pay another 50 euros and 100 lev by this time it was getting a bit tense between myself and the driver so I paid him just to get rid of him. I have been a fan of Bulgaria for the last 4 years and made an investment in Bansko by buying 2 apartments. The only thing which is letting this country down is the rip of taxi drivers. I thought i had all angles covered but not this time. If this happens to you when your next going somewhere my advice is to get the taxi company to agree upfront and write it down. Show it to the taxi driver before you leave the airport. I went back there this morning to confront them. And yes the woman who spoke a small bit of english now does not speak any . Be carefull do not use ok taxi's.
PS yes i have sacked the transfer company i have been using if anyone has any good contacts I travel out about 5-8 times a year with family and friends. Sometimes require a mini bus
Regards chris lynch ( Still a Bulgaria fan just )

You took the number of the taxi driver? You got the woman at the airport to write it down? You showed it to the taxi driver when you got to the car she told you to go to?
Then complain direct to OK and they will sort it out - you can even do it in English http://www.oktaxi.net/cgi-bin/oktaxi.pl?code=zakontakt&lang=en

those prices are crazy, you should of called the police, they can loses their licence. bansko is probably less than 150 KM and the real pice is under 1 lev a km.

these people are good for transfers, cars and mini buses

re: RIP OF TAXI'S SOFIA AIRPORT

Well, the driver has to come back to Sofia as well. Its the middle of the night and rates are now 0.69st a km so 300kms works out just over 100 EUR. If he got lost (which it sounds like he did) then that would have added a fair bit.

You may as well name the company who let you down...

They are called OK Taxi's they have a hut in arrivals on the right hand side in the corner.
A lot of there drivers hang around the main door waiting for there next victim???

re: RIP OF TAXI'S SOFIA AIRPORT

OK Supertrans have the only hut there and have won a tender to service the airport. There are always some mafia drivers who hang around and the airport doesn't have the balls to chuck them out.

At the end of the day, if you got a long distance taxi from an airport anywhere in the world you would agree the price in advance. This isn't a Bulgaria issue, its a common sense one.
