re: Rain

Benn, I was having exactly the same feelings looking at the weather forecast prior to my holiday in Borovets. The forecasts were all saying temps rising to +6 degrees and rain, but I still managed to board every day in pretty good snow conditions (albeit on the same two runs down from the yastrebets 4 man chair). There were quite a few stones on the piste early in the week, but the snow cannons did an excellent job of snow making, and at the end of the week (came back 02/01/2011), there ...

The forecasts were all saying temps rising to +6 degrees and rain, but I still managed to board every day in pretty good snow conditions (albeit on the same two runs down from the yastrebets 4 man chair). There were quite a few stones on the piste early in the week, but the snow cannons did an excellent job of snow making, and at the end of the week (came back 02/01/2011), there appeared to be a good depth of snow on these runs, which I expect will last for quite some time. I honestly think that as an absolute minimum, these two pistes will still be OK for you, and as everyone else has said, there's a good chance that if its raining in the town, its snowing up top, so hopefully even more runs will be open and you'll be absolutely fine. The best source of weather info comes from Kas&Bobby. Forget IGLUSKI - who claim Borovets has had 288cm of snow this winter - NOT TRUE, also, I found that the forecast given by SNOWFORECAST.COM was mis-leading - fluctuating wildly in terms of snow prediction every few hours. All the best, Jim.

re: Rain

Hi Benn,

I agree with most of the posts on here - IGNORE the forecasts! I know that's hard to say especially when people are spending money on their hols, but they really aren't accurate - especially 2 weeks out. The weather here changes like you wouldn't believe and whilst there may be limited skiing at the moment, there IS skiing! Just about to put an update, but it's basically the same as yesterday - which means skiing for all levels.
