I will admit in their defense they claimed to go later to the gondola and avoid the morning rush, and walked straight on, and that was the order for the remaining days, and they enjoyed the holiday, although the lift was broken in their apartment block, and they were on the 5th floor...
Normally it would not bother me, reports that basically make a broad reference to something, but we keep hearing about the queuing for the gondola, and the perception is that it is an issue all season. This is not the case, it tends to be around the 09.00am period, when visitors are attempting to meet classes at the top of the mountain, half term and local holidays, and obviously when a WC event is being held... The generalisation i see in holiday reports would indicate that the town is overrun with wild dogs devouring children, aggressive and rude touts dragging you into bars, 3 hours of queuing and no lifts open when eventually arriving at the top of the mountain, high prices, rude staff, broken lifts in complexes, dirty tap water, pickpockets, beggars, queue-jumpers, smokers etc etc etc...
Sometimes i have to remind myself that they are talking about my home town...
I know its hard Steve but sometimes you need to laugh it off. If it was as bad as that then nobody would use Bansko as a return destination. Having been there a few times and having just completed on an apartment for my family i agree Bansko is a wonderful experience but there will always be people who have a bad experience where-ever they go in the world.

re: Resort reports...
Hi Steve, I was hoping to bring my grandchildren over to Bansko for the day when they are here in April but if they are going to be eaten by packs of wild dogs I may have to think again
How is it that Jess has survived so long? Or do they only eat tourists' children? That could explain it.
Regarding the lifts not working I think this is an absolute disaster that will certainly ruin your holiday and the owner of the building should be shot.
I feel left out, I want to be stuck in a queue at 9am I missed them by getting to the Gondola at 8.30, the child eating dog packs just licked me near to death late in the evening on the ski road after staying far too late in the ski road bar, granted I got some fine secondary smoking in so mustn't grumble too much. 4 times I have tried to get the full Bansko experience, even my board came back looking brand new this year, no rocks or tree stubs to kindly scratch the base, not good enough, I ...

I usually agree with you Steve but we waited 45 min to get on gondola today and we got there at 8.25! Unusual and first time but resort is heaving. Anyway ski was great and now in harry\'s so life is good!
Reports like this won't make the resort any quieter. As much as I love bansko, holding these events can have a massive impact on your holiday if you unknowingly book to go when they are on. The first couple of times I visited bansko I loved it but the third time was a disaster. Been back 3 times since but never again when there's a big event on.
Bansko just doesnt have the infrastructure to cope with the real big events, in time as the resort expands it infrastructure (ie more lifts and pistes) it will be better able to cope, until then as many people are now realising it is best to stay away during the big events. Dates can normally be found on the FIS website or from this forum, theres normally plenty of ex pats willing to advise, as Steve C shows above.
The thing is steve that is is very easy to say I don't know who has deleted but it is FACT and the funny thing is that my posts were not negative.
I would say they are: not convenient.
Nicely and little by little chopped from people which on first reading don't find anything against their beloved place where they make money out of the posters and via adverts all the time.

One thing questioning something little in BG and the relevant moderator steps in and deletes it.something else on another and the new unelected body decides to take it off .
You are gonna have to accept that with these actions for you there is nothing to win but loose great deal.
I know it is a matter of survival for people like you.
Try to enjoy what you have and don't be scare.
Nice advert on the .. Bansko on the up.. though
Poor info on the European resorts you are giving or implaying these days
Stick to info about where you are and please don't try to carry two mellons under one arm.
Anywhere I will be landing tomorrow for a 3 day visit in BG ski resorts.
I Have to choose 2 of them only.
Steve will you advise me which one to be number 2 place to visit and which one to skip and ignore?
Boro is going to be one for deffinite because of the convenience.the other one will be arranged on the ground after UP TO DATE feedback..
Hoping to choose Pamporovo because there is nothing new in Bansko cos it is (on the up)
Or maybe I am wrong?
Posted and here to get my point accross before deleting has occurred.
Enjoy the rest of the season and hope for the best in your investment not to turn into a lost card.
Mikey, if you have a need for quality accommodation, then it has to be Bansko, the Kempinski should suit, good enough for Boyko when he visited a week ago... VIP gondola access so no queuing...
A man of your financial standing should have no problem paying.
As for our investment in Bansko, errrr, we don't really have one, so not much to lose really, we have just bought a lovely house in a small village for 17,600 E, which will be our home, about 10 mins from Bansko, does that count ??
