re: Right age to ski

Point taken but for the 20 odd years spending in BG resorts only I have to say that skiing has become more mainstream and NOW you can have it done in France or a hell of a lot of places in the Apls for the same or LESS so please move on with the times.
Who knows maybe you have to be grateful and to me Smile of teaching you during your numerous visits in BG. Smile
I stand by the above when this concerns very young children .
But I can understand where you are coming from.

Memory lane old memories of the time of youth etc etc .
In a way you have contributed a lot by booking so many times.
The present situation though is what it is like it or not when somebody strike straight to the point without any concerns of interests.
Enjoy it whatever it is I say.

re: Right age to ski

Mr M, your constant derogatory comments about Bg are confusing given the amount of times you appear to ski there. I'm sure there must be the odd positive for you out there?!!

SW, you are correct - using Hillsborough as a reference is wrong at every level - I have never been to Bansko but I'm sure getting a child on a gondola bears no resemblance to 15,000 trying to get into a pen that housed 10,000.

Fact is Bulgaria is cheap, the slopes are good for kids (my two love them) and it is a place that we have grown to like very much.

If I could afford the Alps for a prime time, family holiday, no doubt I would go.

I can't and Bg gives me everything I need - safely!

re: Right age to ski

That's what I do for a living during the winter months so because this season was a 60yr record for snow in BG I had done 3 times in BG.
Which I can not even believe but I move with the snow.
As regards the conditions fof small kids in Boro and Bansko it is not fun and there is no way I will cover up this one.Bansko is a one to remember for the wrong reason for me.

Mind you I have done 8 times and 2 more to go before season ends to the Alps.
So I say 3 against 8-10 is a good ratio but ...

So I say 3 against 8-10 is a good ratio but BG has to work a lot harder to make me go equally there.
And I have vested interests in all of the 3 ski resorts and even on the beach ones but that does not give me right to post only the good things about the places.
Quite opposite.I believe that the sooner everything comes out in the open and it is not covered up the better because otherwise there is not going to be any light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks for the reply Thelma I am trying hard with spellings and always try to pronounce or spell correct names of places etc. Smile

re: Right age to ski

My youngest had lessons (2hrs p/day) when he was 3, almost 4. These had had with Inghams in Borovets, the rest of the day was a creche type thing. He loved it. Sadly no longer in operation. Last year, he was with Borosports in their ski Kindergarden, Borovets again. They have a private area in front of the Ice Angels hotel. Again just a couple of hours a day. He had a great time. Both of these included all equipment and food. This year, now nearly 6, his classes were with Hunters and were ...

Both of these included all equipment and food. This year, now nearly 6, his classes were with Hunters and were all day, no lift pass needed and you have to give the instructor money for your child's lunches but skiing was all day from 10am to 3pm and he went on a chair lift and went down what I believe is called Georges run. The rest of the time was spent on the lower parts of Rotata using those button lifts. I feel compelled to book for next year so that with another good week under his belt, by the time he is 7, he should be able to ski with the big boys. Despite what some people might say, i think Borovets is a great place for kids to learn to ski
