And I think on this post the thing was about right age to ski and where is best suited- not to post information where somebodies is including himself as a staff to be taken on a free trip with kids which want to master the art of skiing and hopefully become masters of this craft.
And still firmly behind the above that for smaller kids under say 4-5 BG is not the first choice for the reasons I have listed above (unruly crowds, bad ski queues creating troubles,no tourist offices programme for ...

All that appart of cheaper sometimes booze from the supermarket is not something to shout about I know and fully understand where you are coming from Fr

re: Right age to ski
This thread started of innocently with an enquiry about a good age for children to start skiing and it now looks like WW3 has broken out.
Fraser has a good point about spelling the name of the resort, it is in Cyrillic so to be pedantic it should be written Боровец, but who in England has a key board to type that and does it really matter anyway?

Regarding off piste, I have boarding friends who have hardly been on piste this season, there is lots of it here if you know the right people to guide you, and we are talking extreme, not for the faint hearted.
But getting back to the children I think it is a good place for them to learn, there are good nursery slopes for progression, starting in front of the Rila hotel then over to the Rotata which is a bit steeper then up on Sitnyakovo after, a nice long run down the royal residence path way then up on the top with the gondola, this normally takes 3 to 4 days and most children will be doing blues by the end of their first week.
This year does not count you know very well because I could have done off piste in the City Park in Sofia let along somewhere higher.
It is not WW2 and it is still Borovets not Borevets. And it is still very dangerous place for minors and of course you will dissagree with me cos you are there and do not want to admit it in your backyard something is not good.
Still firmly as above:

Have a good senior times in Samokov G&S !
Mr M you are a twat!! and a presumptuous one at that. You know nothing about me, but thanks for assuming that im after a free trip. Just for your very small bigoted mind, we actually all pay our own way when we are race training, much like Bulgaria, there isnt oodles of cash floating around in the UK, and we pride ourselves on being able to offer race training and racing at an affordable price. Obviously, unlike your good self some of us are not all about making money and getting free rides, ...

Fraser
having seen the work you do with the ski team can i applaud you as running any kind of team is hard work and at times as thankless task.
As for your apology above no need as you said what most people were thinking.
I have been watching this thread closely as in two years we are taking the whole family including our grandchildren and has Mr M put us off "not in the slightest ".
What i will say is the vast majority of people give good advice where needed unfortunatly there is ...

Not put me off either like I say came out last feb and my oldest loved it and came on really well, in fact better than me ( which is not hard!!) and he had no problems that's why we coming back again cause we all enjoyed it
Not put us off either, our flights for next year were booked the moment they came out for the whole family regardless of the snow conditions. If theres no snow it'll be a fantastic holiday anyway with the atmosphere and people.
Its such a shame that one person on the forum has to try and bring such a downer on everyones fun and enjoyment all the time. If you don't like Bulgaria Mr M then why bother going and why bother coming on this forum with your constant negativity. Im afraid we all ...

As for the limited off piste in Borovets , you obviously have never been shown the massive amount of off piste on offer, but to be honest who the hell would want to show you anyway with your crap attitude.

I agree with my husband, yes Mr M is a ****. As a family we have been back again this year, already booked for next year. I don't know where Mr M has been but has he been binge drinking. All I have experienced in Borovets is warm welcomes, good laughs good skiing. Im not very good but my husband and son are very very good, all they raged about was going off piste. I only hope we don't have the pleasure of meeting Mr M, hopefully he will go back to the Alps as he keeps banging on about it. ...

Bulgaria is a Brilliant place for the young and old, family holidays will not break the bank either
