I was shocked to be charged 27 levs for 4 hot chocolates and 1 water at the Murgavetc tea room by the Snezhanka tower - this makes the hot chocolates 6 levs each and the water 3.
I noticed next to Steve's ski hire at Studenets there is a coffee machine now where you can get hot choc for 70 stotinkis - Go compare!
My friends ate in the Old House tonight and guess what - exactly the same happened. The waiter came running after them saying they had underpaid by 20lev. She had just texted me to say where they were eating and I texted back to say 'wait till the waiter checks your money before you leave' and she read the message 10 mins too late. I felt awful that I hadn't advised them not to eat there. They hadn't checked the forums either sadly.
They should get in touch with their rep and urge her/him to warn the following tourists.
Maybe the police!? At least we have four witnesses!
Maybe a can of paint
I am their rep!
We met the owner last year but I can't remember his name. He had a very visible presence in the restaurant, taking a table in one corner and generally keeping an eye on the proceedings. He remembered us from a visit earlier in the week and made a point of ackowledging us. They watch their clientelle carefully and keep an eye on who is eating there.
I am sure he knows this is happening. The custom they lose is obviously worth the amount they get through this practice.
Unfortunately for me the owner was absent on the night in question and on the night we returned to speak to the management.........conveniently perhaps, shame as I would have liked to have discussed this with him!!?
Anyway I’m just glad that the situatiom has now been brought to everyone’s attention so their scam and attitude to tourists is revealed. If anyone should be speaking to the owner I will be happy to provide a postal address where the can send 150 lev!!
