re: SKI INSURANCE

On ours, you can claim for piste closure and also claim back the cost of your lift pass and ski hire. I'm REALLY hoping we won't have to though ...

re: SKI INSURANCE

who is your insurance with..
i thought you could only claim for cost of ski hire and lift pass if you get an injury, the piste closure is normally a daily amount to cover lift pass costs...

re: SKI INSURANCE

i very much doubt they will pay out for a change of resort but as lizzisnow said, you'll be able to claim back a daily rate for piste closures. usually somewhere in the region of £30 per day. Worth checking through your policy.

re: SKI INSURANCE

I'm with Lloyds bank who sort my insurance through Axa

I think I'd get £30 each day the piste is completely closed, and £30 back each day for hire of equipment charges

there'll probably be an excess though

I'm not due out till March so i'm going to email crystalski to see what they would do if there hasnt been sufficient snow before I'm due to go

re: SKI INSURANCE

Ours is with Direct Line - we have an annual policy that pays out per day for piste closures as well as the other expenses.

re: SKI INSURANCE

Dave £60 per day back - are you sure Confused

That would amount to £210 back for hire gear and it doesn't cost anything like that Confused

I reckon it would be 'upto' £30 per day back based on what you paid, and I'm sure they would want to see your invoice.

re: SKI INSURANCE

Ours is with direct travel. Will pay up to £15 per day not including 1st 24 hours, and only if there are no alternative resorts nearby. If there are you can claim extra to be transferred as well as lift passes (keep all receipts)
There was no excess to pay but you had to have a letter from the lift operators or resort owners ski school confirming that at least 80% of the resort is closed.

When we were there first week in Jan there were 2 runs open (out of the 16) and so we got the letter ...

When we were there first week in Jan there were 2 runs open (out of the 16) and so we got the letter and have claimed. I now see that (according to the pamporovoresort.com website) that 5 runs are open, which means that 69% is closed - not enough to be able to claim.
I'm sure it will vary from policy to policy so check the detail!

re: SKI INSURANCE

How about if the runs are open but the lifts are closed like they are 2day due to high winds meaning you still can't ski ....any ideas???

re: SKI INSURANCE

The letter must state the reason for closing the piste and the number of days it was closed (remembering that you can't claim for the first 24 hours of closure so that if it is closed for one day - you can't claim) but yes, it applies for piste or lift closure.
